Hi everyone! I got my 187 Chanel Classic Flap 23cm on September 1, so I’ve had it for about more than a month now.
I’ve noticed that the caviar leather looks/feels a little dry, especially when I look at it closely under certain lighting. I wanted to ask other 187 owners if this is normal for their caviar, especially when the bag is still relatively new.
Does the caviar usually have a slightly dry/matte appearance at first? Does it develop more softness or shine with use?

I wanted to share my experience with Tom and my new CF 23cm because I’m honestly really happy with how this bag turned out.
The whole process with Tom was smooth overall. After receiving my PSPs, I waited about 7 days before the bag was shipped. I paid an additional $15 for fast shipping, which took around 7–8 days, compared to the longer shipping option that was estimated at around 15 days.
As for the bag itself, I absolutely love it. This was especially important to me because I previously purchased the same style/size (CF 23cm) from another seller and unfortunately felt like I was bait-and-switched. So naturally, I was a little nervous ordering this one.
The difference between the two bags is honestly very noticeable. My previous bag was extremely stiff, heavier, and had a very strong smell. This one feels much lighter and softer, with more flexibility in the structure. It doesn’t feel overly rigid, and the leather has a much nicer feel overall. The bag just feels more pleasant to handle and wear. The caviar texture, quilting, and overall construction look great to me, and I’m especially happy with how the bag feels compared to my previous one. The chain also feels substantial and looks beautiful with the bag.
One thing I’m still curious about is the way the chain ends/joins near the bag (I attached a photo). I’m not sure if that’s normal for this style, so if anyone with an authentic or similar bag has insight, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and with Tom’s service. After my previous disappointing experience, this bag was such a relief. It’s not often that I feel completely comfortable carrying a bag after receiving it, but I can honestly say I’ll be wearing this one proudly out. 🖤
