Ottawa<->Quebec City Trip Report: First Time in VIA Rail Business Class!

Just came back from Quebec City and wanted to share the amazing experience my wife and I had with VIA.
For the first time, we tried the business class. I had a good amount of points so only paid half the fare.

The good things:

  • I'll put this first as it's usually the main concern on a VIA trip: we arrived only 9 minutes late to Quebec and right on time back to Ottawa.
  • The food was amazing! We shared the ravioli, fish and rice, cheese plate, and salmon meal, 0 complaints.
  • We only had 1 breakfast on the way to Quebec as we got quite full. The cinnamon rolls were delicious, and I don't even like cinnamon!
  • Loved the frequent drink passes.
  • The truffle chocolates are sooo good.
  • The Ottawa Business Class lounge is pretty neat; the Quebec one is not, although Gare du Palais is a pretty landmark.

The odd thing:
I'm not sure if anyone else experienced this before, but a foul smell came out twice earlier in the trip. I'm guessing it's manure from the farm fields?

1 thing I'd wish VIA did better:
More comfortable and lounge-like chairs in Business Class. But the extra legroom and footrest are a good addition.

Last but not least, the staff were lovely (as usual)!

Thanks for reading!

CF18/F35 Flyby over Rockcliffe - Part 1

The downside was that it was too glary at that time so won't be getting the best shots, but it was amazing nonetheless!
Will need time to edit the rest so will post more later on.
