Glendale City Council Campaign Candidate Glossary
This may help decipher some of the terminology Glendale City Council candidates are using.

“affordability”: I want rent and energy subsidies
“attack on masculinity”: I’m a tradwife
“candidate X is not qualified”:
- I’m an expert in local governance because I go to some city council meetings
- I’ve never volunteered for any cause in my community
- I’m projecting
“common sense”: you are simply WRONG
“existential threat”: I fear progress
“I will cut energy costs by 50%”: I have no idea how the energy market works
“I will crack down on and reduce reckless driving”: since I’m afraid of infrastructure improvements, I’ll have to raise taxes to hire more qualified law enforcement officers for a temporary, 'feel good' fix.
“it will destroy our neighborhood”: I’m opposed to anything that will make our neighborhoods more livable and bring in more tax revenue.
“neighborhood character”: people who don’t look like me or are not at my income level should never be welcome here
“North Brand bike lane demonstration”: I’m deflecting currently relevant issues
“responsible development”: I’m all for housing and transportation initiatives - just not near me
“smear campaign”: people are asking me questions that make me uncomfortable
“stop overdevelopment”: only wealthy people with cars can live near me
“Verdugo Wash”: Heaven forbid people might be able to enjoy the outdoors in safety and away from automobile traffic
“vote the incumbents out”: I have no viable plan of my own I can offer
