What is the best way to sell a slightly used bike locally in Los Angeles

I bought a Cannondale Quick in about 2017. Rode it about 5 times and then had an unrelated back problem that required surgery a few years later. It probably has about 100 miles on it. Since my surgery I'm just not able to sit on a bike for more than about 10 minutes. I hate seeing it gather dust and wanted to sell it to someone who will use it. It is XL size and been store inside a garage or shed its entire life.

I don't do facebook so that's out and its been a while since I've sold anything like this. What are the best online forums to sell used bikes locally?

Glendale doctor,Violetta Mailyan, 45, convicted in $45M botox fraud scheme

LOS ANGELES (KESQ) - A Glendale doctor has been convicted of federal charges for submitting more than $45 million in bogus claims to Medicare for Botox injections that were medically unnecessary or never provided, and for using falsified documents to attempt to obstruct an investigation, officials announced today.

Violetta Mailyan, 45, was found guilty late Monday in Los Angeles federal court of nine counts of wire fraud and three counts of obstructing a criminal investigation of health care offenses, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Mailyan operated Healthy Way Medical Center in Glendale, which billed Medicare for Botox injections, sometimes on dates when the defendant was traveling internationally or on dates when the beneficiaries who supposedly received the services were traveling or in prison, and on dates when the medical center was closed, evidence showed.

Mailyan faces up to 20 years in prison on each wire fraud count and five years in prison on each obstruction count, prosecutors said.

A sentencing date has not been scheduled.

Old Fashioned Deli

Took u/lukaspixels suggestion of Old Fashion Deli on Pacific in Glendale. This Turkey sandwich was delicious, I don’t even know what the flavors of the spreads they use were but it was amazing.

$9.99 for this fresh made toasted Sandwich is a steal.

Bike lanes

Why do people hate bike lanes so much? My fb group is all grumpy about the new one on la crescenta being finished. I think they’re great to slow the city down with how fast people go and give a safer way to bike. It’d keep all those electric scooters and bikes off the sidewalks too. Do people hate them because the traffic gets worse and they can’t go fast? Honest question from someone who’s lived here forever and walks and drives a lot and may one day bike :)

How to support progressive candidates in Glendale

If you're like me and feeling a little stumped on how to be helpful to your favorite local candidates (go Alek! go Dan! go Elen!), this is what you need to know --

1 - Vote early! The candidates can see early results, and it takes a little pressure off their campaigns and their spending. Right now only 10% of Glendale dems have voted... which makes sense with the Gov race, but we can help out by voting sooner.
2 - Donate! It still matters. A single one of those mailers you've been getting can cost a candidate 20K. If you're glad these local candidates are helping keep more insane MAGA off our city council, make a small donation to offset the cost of them trying to get your vote.

And open to more ideas from others who are more tapped in than me!

School board candidates

I’ve had a few people come to the door who are running for school board positions. Everyone has a limited website and I feel like I have no idea what policies each one is proposing or where they disagree.

Anyone have info or a resource on this? Thanks

District 30 Congressional candidate Cameron Tennyson confronts Joel Lava over comments denying the Palestinian genocide

Some context:

In a past reddit AMA for his campaign Joel Lava was quickly asked if he would condemn Israel for their ongoing genocide in Palestine, and Joel refused to acknowledge it as a genocide.

At a recent protest Cameron Tennyson (also running in District 30) made this video talking with Joel in further depth about his views on the Palestinian genocide, and why Joel refuses to refer to it as a genocide.

Honestly, can't believe he'd say some of this stuff on camera.

Meet Shank Kevorkian

What’s the deal with this child running and why does he keep talking about family fleeing war? How is he a "healthcare leader" when he just graduated from USC?

Lost Dog (missing since Friday, May 15)

EDIT: He's been found and is home! Thank you so much to everyone sharing sightings of him, it helped us find him!

Jimbo has been missing since Friday. He is a white Korean Jindo. He is male, neutered, and medium sized (roughly 50 pounds.) He has a small bald spot about midway up his tail. He was wearing a plain brown leather collar with no tags. Please reach out if you see him! (Or if you see a post where someone else has!)

Glendale Renters: would you support this here?

The City of Los Angeles just published a new resource for renters. Should Glendale do the same?

From the site:
The Top 100 Problem Rental Properties Dashboard is a public data tool that highlights the 100 rental properties with the highest number of reported Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) and Just Cause for Eviction Ordinance (JCO) violation cases.

It shows the total violation cases linked to each property including ownership information for the top 100 violators. The dashboard is designed to support tenants, advocates, and public officials in identifying buildings with repeated documented problems and pushing for stronger enforcement, repairs, and accountability. Our office believes that all Angelenos deserve safe, stable, and dignified housing.

METHODOLOGY
We used public LAHD data sets to identify the top 100 rental properties in Los Angeles with the most housing violation cases. Building code violations were included for additional context.

The addresses provided are directly from LAHD data, which uses an Assessor Parcel Number (APN) to tie violations to an address. In some cases, these addresses may be different from a property's mailing address or main entrance. An APN can contain many addresses, but the main address tied to the APN and violations are the ones used. We're working to add a second address to reflect the impacted rental property.

DATA SOURCES
We began with public data from the Los Angeles Housing Department. This data includes RSO/JCO violation cases and building code violation citations tied to rental properties across the city from 12/2013 through 11/2025. We used this information to identify buildings with the most documented problems and to understand how often the same properties appeared in enforcement data over time.

The raw data sets are publicly available here: - Housing Violations - Code Violations
The addresses provided are directly from the city's data. In some cases, these addresses may be different than a property's mailing address or main entrance.

PROPERTY MATCHING
We then matched each property to its address and ownership using public city and county records, including ZIMAS and the Los Angeles County Assessor. When ownership was listed under an LLC, we traced the entity back to the human owner whenever possible so the people behind the property would be visible too.

OWNERSHIP RESEARCH
Many landlords in Los Angeles do not hold property in their own names. Instead, they use LLCs or other business entities, which can make it harder for tenants and the public to hold bad landlords accountable. When ownership was listed under an LLC, we reviewed public records to trace that entity back to the human owner whenever possible.

NOTE: We included all complaints and violations documented by LAHD.
Cases/Cited: Indicates all submitted complaints, regardless of whether they have been verified.
Cleared: Indicates when a case was either resolved or dismissed.

Who should replace Ara Najarian on the LA Metro Board as Glendale’s representative?

With outgoing council member Ara Najarian soon to no longer to represent Glendale on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority board, the city will need to select a new representative.

Out of all the boards and commissions Glendale participates in, the LA Metro board is arguably the most important seat at the table. Decisions made there directly impact transit funding, freeway projects, bus and rail expansion, housing policy, active transportation, and Glendale’s influence within LA County.

So who on the Glendale City Council (or soon to be on the council post June 2 elections) should be appointed as Glendale’s next Metro board representative — and why?

A few things to consider:
Who would be the strongest advocate for Glendale’s transportation priorities?

Who understands regional politics and coalition-building across LA County?

Should the city prioritize transit expansion, traffic congestion relief, bike/pedestrian infrastructure, or freeway improvements?

Who would actually show up prepared and engaged on Metro issues?

Does Glendale need someone with experience on city council, or should this be an opportunity for a newer councilmember?

Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on which councilmember would best represent Glendale at Metro and what priorities they should push for.

Bread selling man from my childhood

I used to live behind the Galleria next to the fire station, around 15ish years ago. There was a man who would come by on foot with an organized storage container full of baked goods! I remember looking under seat cushions for 75 cents to buy a pastry that had a creme filling that I was obsessed with. I wish i had more details on this pastry because i haven’t had it since. The dough that was used was interesting, maybe crumbly? He was an older hispanic man, I hope he’s still around. Did anyone else get to experience this? I still live in the area and have yet to meet anyone that has!

Fourteen O’ Four Kenneth Village Closed!

Anybody have any info on the closure or Fourteen O’ Four in Kenneth Village? It’s boarded up all of a sudden, and nothing on social media or anywhere else.

One of the servers had mentioned a remodel to us a while back, but that was over a year ago. Fingers crossed that’s the case, and they’re coming back soon.

We love going there, especially since we can walk from our house. The employees are awesome and the food is great! (My favorite steak sandwich in the city). We used to go there at least once a week, and they were always busy. Sucks no dinner, but they mentioned after the remodel they were pushing for dinner service.

Anyone have any info on the closure?!?!?
