Adem Asil has withdrawn from the 2026 European Championships, as well as the Mediterranean Games

According to International Gymnast Media, Adem Asil has withdrawn from the European Championships that starts tomorrow for the men, and subsequently the Mediterranean Games 💔. This is sad news to hear, and for anyone wondering, he did participate in Podium Training here, so I don’t know if something happened in podium training, or if it was a separate issue that’s prevented him from competing here?

Knowing this, I’m wishing Adem all of the best, regardless of what the circumstances are, and let me know your thoughts as always ❤️.

Heath Thorpe has announced that the MTC, which provisionally set his “Straddle Jump 1/1” move on floor a ‘B’ back in April of this year will no longer be worth a ‘B’ in the MAG COP’s, and it will now be ineligible to fulfil the artistry requirement on floor

Welp, this sucks hard 🫠. I will share both the Gymnastics Now piece on the situation, and Heath Thorpe’s own response to this on X.

Knowing this, if anyone can’t read from the image, the Gymnastics Now piece that features more of Heath Thorpe’s response to the situation says:

“I was recently informed (indirectly) that following the Men's Technical Meeting in June, the straddle jump 1/1 would no longer be valued as a B element, nor would it count towards the artistic requirement moving forward.”

“This comes after it received a provisional value at both the Osijek World Cup and the Oceania Championships, and shortly after many athletes began competing it all around the world.
I do not see the rationale behind this decision... it directly contradicts what the Technical Committee has been "advocating" for over the last few years.”

“We keep hearing that "artistry" is desired, yet as soon as athletes innovate, it gets shut down.
All this constant revision and inconsistency is doing damage to the sport and to how athletes perceive "artistry."

“It is sad to see how the opportunity to elevate our sport, has been missed.”

“I am confused 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️”

Along with this, Heath Thorpe’s response on X to this reads:

“The way the MTC provisionally valued the straddle jump 1/1 on floor in April and then changed their minds a few months later?”

“Now it no longer is a B nor does it even fulfil the artistic element requirement?”

“I'm confused 🤷‍♂️”

“I frankly get whiplash from the constant revising and changes to what they consider "artistry"? What other major Olympic sport changes their mind so frequently?”

“What started off this quad as a great intention to elevate the sport, has become an opportunity sorely missed.”

Knowing this, I’m pissed off by the news of this, and it’s another screw up from the FIG/MTC. Like Heath said, this is damaging the sport of MAG, and I’m so upset for him. Like it’s one thing to value it a ‘B’ (when it should be valued more in my opinion) and not a ‘C’ (like it is in the Women’s) so he could at least have the skill named after him officially, but now it’s not even going to fulfil the artistry requirement on floor??? Damn, what a mess, and I’m just so frustrated right now with this decision 😒.

Lastly, let me know your thoughts as always, and if you’re as upset as I am by this decision from the FIG/MTC?

Becky Downie’s latest Instagram post/update after she withdrew from team finals at the 2026 European Championships

Link to the Instagram post will be here for anyone who needs it:

Along with this, if you’re unable to read from the image, I will type is out below:

“So difficult to find the words for this past week because the outcome hasn't felt like a true reflection of the preparation that has really gone into these championships.”

“Leading into Zagreb I was prepared to do 3 events and leaving feeling unable to my job properly has been heartbreaking. There have been multiple factors that contributed to the final decision being made to not do the team final and it wasn't a decision that was made lightly because I know how much impact a decision like that can have on a team.”

“To remove any doubt, the decision wasn't due to a new injury which I'm extremely grateful for. Navigating this journey at 34, trying to do the level of gymnastics I believe I still can is new territory for myself and the sport. Unfortunately that comes with some pretty significant challenges that as a team we are all trying to learn from and continually adapt to.”

“I couldn't be more proud of this team for stepping up and showing exactly how a team has strength in numbers and what fighters GB really are.”

“Thank you to everyone who has sent such lovely messages of support ♥️”

Knowing this, I’m grateful to learn that she didn’t sustain a new injury, and I can only assume that she withdrew for precautionary reasons with the world championships in two months time, which I think is the right decision in the grand scheme of things for her and her body.

With that in mind, let me know your thoughts, and despite what happened in team finals, it was still absolutely amazing to see Becky back on the international stage at these championships, and I’m sure she’ll come back even better from this like the queen she is ❤️.

Amy Tinkler’s Instagram post celebrating the tenth anniversary of her historic bronze medal winning floor routine at the 2016 Rio Olympics 🇬🇧🥉

I will link her Instagram post here, and as well as this, I will link her floor routine from Rio in floor finals here on YouTube for people to go back and watch it!

Moving on, if you’re unable to read from the image, I will type what she said below:

“10 years ago today. 🥹🥉”

“10 years since one of the most incredible moments of my life — winning an Olympic medal, making history, and being only one of two British female gymnasts to win an individual Olympic medal.”

“It honestly feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago all at once. The years of training, the early mornings, the sacrifices, the highs, the lows, made that moment so much more than just a medal.”

“Standing on that podium at the age of 16 was something I could only have dreamed of, and I'll forever be grateful that I got to experience it.
10 years on, I'm still incredibly proud of that little girl who chased her dream and somehow made it a reality. ❤️”

“The medal will always be special, but the memories, and everything the journey taught me will stay with me forever.”

“10 years. An Olympic medal. A lifetime of memories 🥹🥉✨”

Knowing this, this was a lovely post from Amy, and I think it’s amazing how much history she made on this day 10 years ago. She was the youngest member of Team GB of all sports at the 2016 Olympics, and she became the first British female gymnast to win an floor medal at an Olympics, as well as only the second individual Olympic medalist from Team GB in WAG to date.

Lastly, I will forever be proud of Amy Tinkler for speaking up about the abuse she suffered at the hands of British Gymnastics back in 2020 (I will link the interview she did with ITV here, but I need to give a trigger warning, as it discusses topics such as body shaming, physical, and emotional abuse that she endured during her time in gymnastics). She was so brave in coming out about her experience, and she’s helped to inspire so much change in the federation, and she’s an amazing role model for so many young gymnasts in the UK.

Anyways, let me know your thoughts, and a happy tenth anniversary to this amazing accomplishment from Amy Tinkler 👏👏.

Katelyn Ohashi’s training update/potential upgrades 🥳

To start, I’m loving to see Katelyn’s latest training, and how she is progressing!

Moving on, skills that she showed in this update are:

- DLO on floor (F).

- BHS + BHS + layout 1/1 on beam (B + B + G).

- Back 1.5 twist + double twisting front (C + D).

- Gainer tuck 2/1 dismount on beam (which I’m not sure if that’s in the COP’s or not).

- FHS + Front layout + Double front (A + B + E)

- Full in double back dismount on bars (D)

- DTY (5.0)

Now, reminder that a lot of these skills were done in the foam pit, on the Tumbl Trak, or on the low beam, and are not ready by any means. Knowing this, I’m grateful to Katelyn for uploading some of her training for us to watch and discuss!

Knowing this, let me know your thoughts, and after seeing Kyla Ross in the gym recently (which is most likely for fun but it doesn’t matter)! It’s so exciting that there will be a 30+ year old gymnast in USAG by the time LA rolls around with Katelyn Ohashi (of course, we also have Simone Biles, but we don’t know what’s happening there), and it makes me so happy to see how the sport has evolved, and that it has become a sport for teenagers AND adults ❤️❤️.

Katelyn Ohashi training a FHS + Front Layout + Double Front on her Instagram Stories

Well, let’s just say, this was really exciting to see for me, and it’s making me even more excited to watch her next season than I already was before!

Anyways, let me know your thoughts? Do you think this was simply playing around in the gym, or could you see this being a realistic upgrade for her in her LA journey? Let me know everything as I love hearing everyone’s thoughts and opinions on here ❤️.

Lavi Crain’s floor routine at the 2026 US National Championships appreciation post

I know there’s been a lot of talk about her floor on here (for good reason), and I’m definitely not the first to praise it, but this was definitely one of the floor routines that caught my eye at these nationals. Now, this isn’t a new floor routine for her, as she’s been doing it since last year, but either way, she’s so fluid in her movements, the artistry feels so natural to her, and it was my favourite floor routine at these nationals!

Moving on, while it may not have been the dream senior debut for Lavi, there’s so much she has to be proud of, especially after a lot of us didn’t think she would compete this year with everything that happened at GAGE + the injuries she’s been dealing with since November.

Lastly, I’m glad she announced on her Instagram that she is okay, so I’m happy everything is good on that front, and I’m excited to see what she has in store for us next season where we’ll hopefully see her at 100% strength!

Side note, but for anyone wondering, this was her day 1 floor routine and she scored a 12.700 with a 5.0 d score and a 7.7 execution score.

Jade Carey’s Full In FTDLO Appreciation Post

I’ve been so giddy about Jade’s comeback this year regardless, but words can’t describe how happy I am to see the full in FTDLO return! I was SO SHOCKED when she brought it back at Classics last month (which was the first time she had used the full in technique on her FTDLO in almost 8 years), and it looks even better here!

Moving on, I don’t think she’ll keep the full in technique permanently. I wouldn’t be surprised if she goes back to her old full out technique on Sunday/Monday (as she did say she was alternating between them and seeing what works best for her), so we’ll see what happens. However, despite that, I’ve been enjoying the return of her full in FTDLO , and I’ll be sad to see it end.

Alice Kinsella has teased her new floor routine!

Okay, this is really exciting to see for me! She’s working with the myth, the legend, ✨Nicole’s Artistry✨ for this floor routine, and I’m already hooked from the fifteen seconds she shared of it! It’s been amazing to see Alice’s comeback since having her son in September last year, and I still can’t quite believe she made her return to competition in March of this year after only SIX months postpartum. Like that’s simply so incredible to me, and I applaud her for the hard work and dedication she’s put into this comeback!

Moving on, let me know your thoughts, and I’m looking forward to seeing when she unveils this new floor routine (which will most likely be next year, but I wouldn’t count anything out from Alice)!

Ruby Evans’ Title Winning Floor Routine At The 2026 Commonwealth Games (With Welsh Commentary!)

I know the CWG’s hype is starting to die down now, but I saw that S4C (the channel for Welsh speakers in Wales) posted her full floor routine on their YouTube channel two days ago, and I thought I’d share it as I know a lot of you have probably never seen or heard of Welsh commentary before, and I thought it was so wholesome to hear the commentators cheer Ruby on, and I wish I watched it on here now than on TNT lol 😂.

Knowing this, let me know your thoughts as always, and I hope this helps you learn a thing or two more about the Welsh language, as it’s a beautiful language that deserves to have more attention brought to it :D.

Edit: Unfortunately, from what u/Syncategory said, this is geolocked and only available for people in the UK (as far as I know/have checked). I want to give a massive apology for this, as I’m Welsh so obviously S4C is available to me, and I should have checked if it was available in other countries before posting, but this is a valuable lesson for the future!

Knowing this, the only thing I can do is recommend the free VPN app that I use which is this on iOS, and this on Google Play. Then, once you’ve installed it, you have to watch ads to gain minutes to use the VPN (but you can also refresh the app when an ad plays and you’ll gain the minutes that way without having to watch it) and then switch to the UK, and you can watch the routine that way.

Ruby Evans’ Instagram post about winning the floor title at the 2026 CWG’s ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🥇

The full link to the post will be here if you want to check it out: (and she used the instrumental of the Welsh anthem for her music on the post, which my heart 🥹❤️)

Ruby Evans’ Instagram post about winning the floor title at the 2026 CWG’s

Moving on, for anyone who can’t read from the image, this is what she said:

“COMMONWEALTH FLOOR CHAMPION 🏆”

“So many emotions that I just can't explain, it's a dream come true.💭”

“Hearing the Welsh anthem and the dragon rise yesterday was a feeling I'II never forget 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿”

“And a memorable leotard inspired by daffodils 🌼”

“Big thank you to everyone around me who has helped me achieve my dream 🐉🌟”

Knowing this, I’m still quite emotional as a Welsh gym fan by this result! I’m so proud of Ruby Evans for how much she has grown Welsh Gymnastics in recent years, and for how she has made Wales known on the international stage! We have never had an Artistic Gymnastics CWG’s champion from Wales before (Latalia Bevan was close when she won the silver on floor in Gold Coast 2018, and some say she was robbed of the title but that’s all I will be saying on that), and I still can’t quite believe it happened. This has opened Artistic Gymnastics up to a whole new audience in Wales, and I’m so proud of her for winning the first gold medal of these games for Wales in any sport so far!

Moving on, I love how much you can tell she loves being Welsh, I love how you could tell how much it meant to her being on top of that podium, and becoming the first artistic gymnast to hear the Welsh anthem on a CWG’s podium and seeing the Welsh flag raised, and I applaud her for doing interviews in the Welsh language (full or partial), as she’s promoting the language to a whole new audience outside Wales, some of whom have never heard of the Welsh language until Ruby spoke in it! Along with this, it’s such a beautiful language to listen to, and it’s a language that I as a Welsh person should try to learn more of as I only know basic/conversational phrases, but that’s besides the point!

Lastly, I want to give another huge congratulations to Ruby Evans on this amazing achievement for Welsh Gymnastics! I hope she has been thoroughly celebrating this result with all her teammates and loved ones, and I hope this gives her a massive confidence boost for the upcoming euros next month ❤️❤️.

More footage of Ruby Evans speaking in Welsh + her on the podium listening to the Welsh anthem 🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Alright, so as you may or may not know, Ruby Evans won the 2026 Commonwealth Games floor title today, which was the first title for a Welsh gymnast in Artistic Gymnastics in Commonwealth Games history! Knowing this, she did a few interviews after the final, and I don’t want to share all of the interviews she’s done today. However, she did a few interviews with S4C/S4C shared a video of her on the medal podium that I wanted to share (which is the channel for Welsh speakers in Wales), and she’s seen speaking in Welsh (as she’s a bilingual queen as far as I’m aware ✨), and I thought this would be cool to share with anyone who’s interested!

Here are the links, and I’ll provide a translation below for the interviews for anyone who wants them (one of the interviews has the English translation during the Welsh parts, as well as the full interview not being in Welsh, but I will leave it down below anyway in case someone needs it :D).

Side note that one of these translations were made using a translator (as I myself am not a fluent Welsh speaker), so it may not be a 100% accurate translation:

Interview 1

Translation:

“I'm just really excited and happy and I have known if I don't do well today it's not good for me or for Wales. But I am proud of myself”.

Floor Medal Ceremony + Welsh National Anthem

Interview 2

Translation:

Ruby Evans - “I just can't believe I did that! It was incredible!”

Interviewer - “How did you feel as you were going last, so you knew what you needed to do. Did you believe you could do it?”

Ruby Evans - “Yes and no. Abi did a good floor routine. And Shantae was really good as well. But I thought if I did everything I could well then, I had a chance. And I did so when I got off the floor, I wasn't sure. But I did it!”

Team GB/Wales twins Abigail and Emily Roper with their CWG bronze medals together 🥹

I saw this image from the Olympic Channel’s social media pages, and I knew I had to share this on the sub with everyone! Words cannot describe how proud I am of these girls ❤️. These girls have been absolute breakout stars of this tournament, and they’re an example of gymnasts that have peaked later in their careers (with the sisters both being 20 turning 21 in September, and are both currently studying Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Essex in England)! They have both had wonderful competitions at these CWG’s, and I can’t wait to see what future opportunities this performance will give them when it comes to making Team GB squads!

Knowing this, I want to give another huge congratulations to Abigail Roper for bringing home the bronze medal on vault for Wales (the first vault medal won by a Welsh woman at the CWG’s in thirty two years after Sonia Lawrence’s silver in 1994), and to Emily Roper for winning the bronze medal on bars for Wales (and making history along with her sister Abigail by becoming the first Welsh artistic gymnasts to bring home separate individual medals at the same CWG’s in CWG HISTORY)! ❤️❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🥉🥉.

Edit: I have an updated stat for you, as well as Emily making history for Wales with Abi by becoming the first Welsh artistic gymnasts to win two separate individual medals at the same CWG’s in CWG’s history. Emily Roper has made history of her own by becoming the first EVER Welsh gymnast to win a CWG’s bars medal! These girls weren’t even aware of these stats before today, and I’m absolutely proud of them for the history they’ve made, and the performances they’ve put in for Team Wales at these CWG’s ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

Ruby Evans’ floor routine in Qualifications/Team Finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Glasgow 2026 posted this on their Instagram, and you know your girl had to post this for everyone. They didn’t show the start of her routine, but they showed all of her tumbling passes, and I want to say, I’m so proud of Ruby’s performance today! She went out there, and she showed her experience out there for Team Wales! It’s a shame that we finished in fourth place, but Ruby and the girls gave it their all today regardless of the result, and let’s just say, they’ve got a VERY BUSY next few days with athletes in every final!

Knowing this, let me know your thoughts, and well done to Ruby for qualifying in second to AA finals, seventh to bars finals (truly iconic from her), eighth to beam finals (iconic again ), and fifth in floor finals with a 12.900, which was no where near her best floor routine this year!

Tiana Sumanasekera’s recent Instagram Stories about her time at the Commonwealth Games so far ❤️🇱🇰

OKAY, to start, OUR AMERICAN SRI LANKAN QUEEN IS LOOKING AMAZING! I love her podium training leo, and she looks so happy to be here, which I’m thrilled to see for her!

Moving on, UMMM HER OPENING CEREMONY OUTFIT ALERT 🚨. She looks so good in her Sri Lankan attire, and her smile is absolutely infectious 💕.

After this, I LOVE that she got to meet the one and only ✨Danusia Francis✨, and I’m so happy to see Janelle here with her for this competition!

Lastly, I’m wishing Tiana the best of luck as she competes on beam in the second subdivision of the women’s competition on Saturday! The women’s competition will be starting at 10 AM UK/Irish time on Saturday, which is the equivalent to 5 AM ET time, and 4 AM CT time, as well as 2:30 PM in Sri Lankan time! She has been described as one of the medal hopes for Sri Lanka at this competition, and I truly hope she can do her country proud here, regardless on if she makes beam finals or not/wins a medal or not ❤️❤️🇱🇰🇱🇰

Team Wales have announced their official competition outfits for the 2026 Commonwealth Games 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I have to say, the women’s leos are absolutely gorgeous, and they look so good on everyone! I especially love the dragon details that are on our main leos (which is the national symbol of Wales), and I love the image of the Roper twins together, as I think they look absolutely stunning here ❤️🥹.

Lastly, I will link the instagram post below if you want to check it out for yourself, and I can’t wait to see the men and the women out in action next week, and words cannot describe how excited I am to see Ruby Evans, as well as the rest of the squad represent Wales on the international stage ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Da-pXSrDNTw/

Edit: I also wanted to add that I love the Celtic patterns that they added on the sleeves to our secondary leos, as it represents our Celtic heritage, and I think it adds a beautiful layer to the leo!
