What is going on with my veggies?
Hello all, I’ve ran into a problem. I’ve searched the web for answers endlessly and it seems like I can’t find the exact answer I’m looking for, except MAYBE fertilizer burn.
I’m in Zone 6b. I transplanted my cucumbers, peppers, and one cherry tomato plant outside into raised beds. After about two weeks outside, I used a 24-8-16 water soluble fertilizer. “All purpose for flowering plants”. It seemed there was no issue. A couple weeks later, after seeing a lot of new growth, I used a 4% calcium supplement and a 2-15-15 fertilizer to try and promote fruiting.
About 3-4 days after that, I noticed the tips of leaves were browning/blackening. The plants seemed fine otherwise, so I pretty well ignored it.
We got some really bad wind in the Midwest, and unfortunately a few days ago all my plants got blown over. They looked fine, a little damage on some but no major issues.
However, this doesn’t seem right. My tomato plant hasn’t gotten any taller since I noticed the tips of the leaves turning (although the fruit looks fine and is ripening), and my cucumbers aren’t producing. My peppers are growing taller, but again no pepper production.
I have strawberry plants I just planted and they seem to be just fine and HAVENT been fertilized, which makes me think it’s fertilizer burn. The only insect issue I’ve noticed is some Japanese beetles, but I was able to get rid of the ones I could find with some soapy water in a bucket.
Am I over reacting? Is there something wrong? Please help! Thank you all
