Burned Out in FMCG Tech Role, considering Shopee Data Analyst Offer

I currently have less than 1 year of experience at a well-known MNC FMCG company, but I am already actively applying for Data Analyst roles. For context, my current team is understaffed, and my workload is both heavy and extremely broad. By broad, I mean that I more or less perform the following roles alone for the entire site:

Business Systems Developer

Business Intelligence Analyst / BI Developer

Power Platform Developer

Digital Transformation Engineer / Specialist

Solutions Architect (Junior-Level Functional Scope)

Applications Support Engineer / Product Support

Data Engineer (Partial / Junior–Mid Hybrid Scope)

Technical Business Analyst

Internal Technology Consultant

I asked AI to help identify the closest formal titles that match my current responsibilities.

I’m a fresh graduate and graduated in August 2025, with a current salary of 30k. The company name and my experience alone were already enough to get me three interviews within just a few days of applying. I was also able to gauge my market value, and it appears to already be roughly double my current compensation.

One of the main reasons I want to move is because I want to specialize. I also believe that if I’m already the “Subject Matter Expert” for nearly all digitalization-related tasks on site despite having less than 1 YOE, I may eventually hit a ceiling in terms of growth and learning.

Another concern is that I currently have no one to peer-review my queries, code, or outputs. I’m worried that I may unknowingly be developing bad coding and engineering habits due to the lack of technical mentorship and collaboration. I want teammates who can challenge me technically, brainstorm actual code logic and architecture with me, and help me improve as an engineer and analyst. I also want mentors, senior developers, and senior analysts whom I can consult whenever I encounter roadblocks.

Ironically, despite my limited experience, I’m already the one training people and being consulted by coworkers and department heads.

I recently received a job offer from Shopee for a Data Analyst role, and I’m planning to get back to them within a week. However, I’ve read many horror stories about the company’s work culture, and I’m worried that moving from a fast-paced manufacturing environment to another fast-paced e-commerce company might only worsen my burnout and multiply my workload — even if it offers the specialization, structure, teammates, and higher pay that I’m looking for.

Another reason I’m delaying my decision is because I’m still waiting for a bank to get back to me regarding the results of my final interview. I’m honestly more inclined toward that opportunity since it’s also a Data Analyst role with a similar salary range, and I assume the work culture may be more stable or relaxed.

For those who have worked at Shopee, especially within data analytics teams, I would really appreciate your advice or insights.

How is the work culture in the analytics teams specifically?

Are analytics teams generally spared from the “horror stories,” or is the pressure company-wide?

Is there actually any work-life balance?

To add, during the interview, the hiring manager asked me how I handle stress and mentioned that employees can go home on time if they are efficient enough to finish their tasks for the day. That statement honestly felt like a red flag to me.

Still, from a career-growth perspective, is Shopee worth the stress, sacrifice, and intensity during this stage of my life and career?
