Normalizing 2 CKD truths
There's one nagging question I couldn't stop asking after my cat’s CKD diagnosis.
Why.
Why did this happen? What did I do wrong? Did I cause this? Was it the food I fed her?
The guilt trip is real.
But caring for a CKD cat means confronting two truths: 1) you may never know the answer to the question “why” and 2) you did NOT cause your cat’s CKD.
Instead of asking “Why did this happen,” a more productive question may be:
“What can I do right now to support my cat’s comfort, quality of life, and longevity?”
Asking that question daily helped me feel more in control and confident as I navigated CKD management for my once-in-a-lifetime soul cat.
It’s not your fault!
