It was a driveway.

These morons took a driveway, and put sod over it. It’s about an inch of soil over asphalt and road fill. The entire section of lawn is rootbound.

At this point, I see a few options:

Tear off what grass remains and put down redwood chips or some other kind of cover. Put up above ground planters and garden it up.
Same as above, but put down pavers and make a fire pit area.
Hire a landscaping company to just dig it all up abd replace it with real soil. It’s too big to do myself.

Personally, I’m supremely disappointed in these people. There’s “fuck the next guy” and then there’s “just put lawn on top of the driveway it’ll be fine”.

Oh yeah, and I found a foiley under one of the asphalt tiles when I was pulling them up. Which explains… so many of the choices around this place, it really does.
