PA > OR in 5ish days with fun stops!

I’m on the last day of this adventure. Heading back into Eugene today from Hood River. Wow what a journey! This all started because my grandmother passed away in PA and left her old car (a 1997 Toyota Camry) to my mom, who was determined to get it back to Oregon. We left on the 15th and needed to be back in Oregon on the 20th because I have an appointment to get to!

Day 1: started near Reading PA > stopped in Cleveland OH > made it to Madison WI for the night. Total drive time was about 15 hours. This day sucked! We did stop at a few rest stops to stretch and switch off driving but we were feeling pretty rough by the time we got to the hotel.

Day 2: started in Madison WI > went to the farmers market > went to House on the Rock > made it to Mitchell SD for the night. Total drive time was about 8 hours. This day was decent since we spent a while in Madison and spent 4 hours exploring House on the Rock! Though we did end up leaving WI later than we thought, which got us into SD after midnight.

Day 3: started in Mitchell SD > stopped at the corn palace > stopped at the prairie dog ranch store > went through Badlands > stopped at Wall Drug > made it to Buffalo WY for the night. The drive through SD was long, flat, boring, but we made so many stops that it ended up being not too bad. About 7 hours of driving total. We ended up leaving Wall Drug later than expected which had us driving in the dark into WY and we almost hit a deer! We got to the hotel around 10:30.

Day 4: started in Buffalo WY > stopped for a while in Bozeman and went to the hot springs > ended up in Deer Lodge for the night. We decided to do a pretty easy day this day. It was about 4 hours from Buffalo to Bozeman. Then we stayed at the hot springs for almost 4 hours, then drove less than 2 hours up the road to Deer Lodge for the night.

Day 5: started the day in Deer Lodge > stopped in Missoula > stopped at the 50,000 Silver Dollar restaurant/gift shop > briefly stopped in Spokane WA > made it to Hood River OR. We did about 8 and a half hours of driving. We are very close to home now being in Hood River. We didn’t want to push on the 3 hours at night though so we stayed overnight. Now we only have 3 hours back today and I need to get to my dentist appointment at 3pm!

Day 6 (today): starting in Hood River > brief stop in Portland > then driving south to Eugene. Only 3 hours left. Going to get into town and go directly to my appointment.

Is Romeo's good?

I recently remembered that Romeos exists, and was wondering if they're any good anymore. I haven't eaten there in 10-20 years. I've heard they're kinda subpar, but I feel like it might be worth giving them a try

Been singing Lips Of An Angel to the phone surveyors

Pick up and hit them with “honey why you callin me so late?”
Either continue to sing to them until they hang up, or read lyrics to them in a normal tone of voice until they catch on.

Rent a Smoker?

I have an event coming up in late July and plan to smoke about 40lbs of prime rib. I have a smaller traeger but it’s not big enough to get the job done. Does anyone have insight on a place that may offer something like this?

Wi-Fi Recommendations

Hey gang,

I’m looking for an internet provider that’s easy to work with, has good customer service when needed and isn’t going to have frequent problems with service.

Now that I think of it, we’re gonna have two gamers and a student in the house, what kind of download speed should I be looking for?

I’m from bumfuck nowhere MT so I’m unfamiliar with who is reputable. Thank you for the suggestions in advance.

Ice Packs?

Does anybody know of where I can find alcohol based freezer ice packs, like these? I'm on a time crunch, and Amazon delayed delivering them so I'm a bit desperate. If anyone has some lying around as well, I'm willing to pay for them. They can't be insta-freeze, and they have to be alcohol based. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Westminster’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

Need some work, have to make an extra 1k by June 1st.

Hey there, due to some unforeseen hardship, I need to find 1k by the end of the month, I’m working full time but will still be short. If anyone has any jobs or positions even the worst of the worst jobs, please PM me and let me know.

I have experience in:

Fence building
Horses
Horseshoeing & Trimming
Really any manual labor
Landscaping
Security

I am a very friendly guy and I’m always on time, just in a hard spot and at the end of my rope.

Missoula Property Management

What are the odds of getting a decent chunk of my deposit back. I had to pay a double deposit and a pet deposit so close to $3000. I’ve lived in my apartment for 2 years and it doesn’t have any major damage. Just little wear and tear. I will be doing a deep clean before move out too. Just wondering how much I should expect and how to get the most back

Ghosted by host day of arrival

I have been using VRBO regularly for a few years now for my team to travel and play in rugby tournaments. We prefer to book a house so we can all hang out together, bring our dogs, and cook real meals.

I booked a house in Missoula for 9 people for the annual Maggotfest, which is a huge tournament that over a thousand ruggers travel to, internationally as well so housing, even hotels, get packed. I booked on 4/16 for 5/14-5/18 and we all pretty much drove through the night from CO (14 hour drive) to be able to check in at 4p. We got into town early, and our host had not yet sent us our check-in info. I messaged them and called them with no response. Then suddenly could no longer view the property details. Called VRBO support who tried repeatedly to contact the host. After hours, they said they would cancel the booking and issue me a refund, which would take 5-7 business days ($2.5k).

They had no other place that could house us so I then had to find housing for all of us elsewhere. Posted a review and now VRBO won’t post my review because what I wrote ‘broke content guidelines’.

I will never use VRBO again and will recommend everyone I know to never use VRBO either.

Just passing through. Saw this masterpiece

On a cross country road trip to get back home to Eugene Oregon. Saw this beauty when we were pulling off the freeway and coming into town for coffee. Seems like you guys are just as freaky as us Oregonians 😉 I love it.

Local Carpenter for Gaming Table

Hey folks! I have a big table for gaming. Love the big surface, hate the fact that I cannot physically flip it over once I attach the legs once I take it out of storage for the weekly game. So I've been looking at stuff online. The "acceptable" options are fairly spendy once you account for shipping.

So I was looking to get some names of local craftsmen. I'm not looking for bespoke stuff made from grade A teak or anything. I just want a good table with a few design requirements, not a piece people will gasp at the opulence of.

So if you know of someone local that's open to talking about a "not immediately" project, send me the contact info. I'm just tired of my current solution and I don't want to spend hundreds on shipping for a lesser product.
