Please share your problems with the Litter Robot 5 and Litter Robot 5 Pro
I'm trying to compile a comprehensive list of customer-reported issues with the Litter Robot 5 and 5 Pro product lines.
If you love your Litter Robot 5 or 5 Pro and don't have any issues with them, that's great. I'm happy for you. But this post isn't for you.
If you have issues with your Litter Robot 3 or 4, I'm very sorry to hear that, but this post isn't for you either.
If you've had issues with Litter Robot 5 or 5 Pro, please share them below. Here are some examples of common issues and concerns that have already been reported:
-Advertised features are either not working as expected (WasteID) or not available yet (globe camera recordings), leading customers to feel like they are beta testers
-Data that was previously available for free (e.g. historical weight trends and visit duration) have been locked behind Whisker+ subscription paywall
-Litter Robot 5 Pro owners need paid Whisker+ subscription to utilize integrated hardware (e.g. cat facial recognition and globe camera recordings)
-Whisker advertised that non-Whisker+ subscribers would receive 2 free days of camera recordings, but then nixed that for interior globe recordings, which will require a paid Whisker+ subscription to view at all
-Cat identification is unreliable
-Privacy concerns about camera facing into home that records audio and video, can be viewed by Whisker and shared with 3rd parties, with no opt-out
-Integrated USB-C port on both Litter Robot 5 and Litter Robot 5 Pro were disabled without warning or reason
-Firmware updates that can take hours or days to complete and can brick units if interrupted
-Clunky and unintuitive app interface
-Robots failing to record visits
-Litter level and waste level sensors unreliable
-Manufacturer's warranty coverage slipping away while common issues have yet to be fixed and expected features have yet to be released
Why did Whisker lie about the Litter Robot 5 Pro?
Why did they tell us that we'd get 2 free days worth of recordings, only to turn around much later and say that actually, the only way to get globe recordings is with Whisker+?
If you need Whisker+ to use the camera facial recognition, and you need Whisker+ to view the recordings, why didn't they just tell customers from the outset that it's pointless to buy the 5 Pro unless you subscribe to Whisker+?
I feel like I was deceived into buying this product based on a false promise
3 days after cleaning the globe with WasteID enabled vs. 3 days after cleaning the globe with WasteID disabled
Picture 1: What my globe looked like 3 days after being cleaned with the WasteID feature turned on.
Picture 2: What my globe looked like 3 days after being cleaned with the WasteID feature turned off.
My litter (Boxie Pro) and cycle delay time (15 minutes) remained the same.
Which just goes to show it had nothing to do with the litter, it had nothing to do with the cycle delay time, and it had everything to do with WasteID not being able to do that a literal toddler can: tell the difference between piss and shit.
Thank god that finally, after 8 freaking months, Whisker gave us the ability to turn off this stupid feature that should have been optional in the first place.

espn.comWhisker customer support told me that non-Whisker+ subscribers will still get 2 free days of internal globe recordings on the Litter Robot 5 Pro
I'm not really sure what to believe anymore. Another user here posted their conversation with Whisker CEO Jacob Zuppke aka u/catpoopman which seemed to indicate that the globe recordings would be entirely paywalled behind Whisker+. But I just got off the phone with customer support who told me that we will still be getting 2 free days of recordings when the globe camera recordings are enabled. Did they change their minds, or did I get bad information?
[Omar Kelly] I have been in college and professional sports for nearly 30 years, and the amount of folks I’ve come across who are unqualified to do their jobs is STAGGERING. It’s truly a fraudulent business and nobody speaks up on it, but athletes should.
The nightmare may finally be over: You can now toggle WasteID off in the Whisker app
(Trigger warning: Mike Florio) "I was having a conversation with someone who covers the team at the league meetings, and the impression I got is Ross is basically tapped out. He's done. He's handed the baton to (Danny) Sillman"
Thinking twice about the extended warranty for your new Litter Robot? Think again. Out-of-warranty base replacement costs will be $549 for the Litter Robot 5 and $649 for the Litter Robot 5 Pro

cbssports.comu/litterrobot will nakedly misinform you on this subreddit
This is the official Litter Robot account posting and stickying easily falsifiable information. They told me that we now have the ability to toggle WasteID off in the latest available app update. Except...we don't. I have the latest version of the app, and it's just...not there.
I thought maybe I was looking in the wrong place, so I called customer support, and they told me that the WasteID toggle is indeed not yet available in the latest app, and said they had no timeframe for when it would be.
Suffice it to say you should regard this account with extreme skepticism any time they reply to you.
The Litter Robot 5 Pro is a terrible, horrible, disgusting, no good, very bad machine
I deep cleaned this robot on Tuesday afternoon. Less than 3 full days ago. Removed the globe, took it outside, scrubbed it and hosed it down.
Less than 3 days ago, this globe was spotless and sparkling clean.
Above is what it looks like now, not even 72 hours later.
This thing spreads multiple nasty unformed clumps around because WasteID is so broken. They smear all over the interior and get stuck to the sifter and the wall, forcing me to have to constantly scrape them off.
It has nothing to do with the litter I'm using. This was never an issue with our Litter Robot 4's, in which we used the exact same litter.
It's 100% a byproduct of WasteID constantly shitting the bed, pun unfortunately intended.
This thing sucks.
