Lightweight Stability Shoe Recs

I'm an extremely flat-footed, over-pronated runner who outside of a carbon-plated racing shoe, needs to wear stability shoes to get through high-mileage marathon training w/o injury.

Gel Kayano and Adrenaline are my two easy/recover day pairs, but my last two stability shoes for tempo and track days have been discontinued -- the Asics DS Trainer and now the Saucony Tempus.

Does anyone have recommendations for a replacement?

Help! Nike vomero plus

I got these trainers last week, I’ve been on one 5km run and they feel so heavy compared to my novablast 5s, I’ve gone straight back to my NBs.
I did SO much research before on the vomero plus and was really excited, they feel plush as hell and will protect the legs, but I just felt like I was plodding along.
Should I persevere with them on another run? Or give up now and sell them and try something else?? What else should I try that’s lighter than these and would work in a good shoe rotation with my NBs.

Are these shoes still okay to run in?

Hello, the bottom of my shoes got dirty after I ran in them outside. Do you think these shoes should be replaced?

I have only ran in them three times. They feel okay as I've only put 34 miles on them but the white portion of my outsole grip is no longer that white.

Is this some sort of defect in the shoe?

Thank you for your help!!

Begginer runner , avoid zero drop?

Hey all, getting back to fitness after being sedentary for many years at a desk job and starting hitting the gym and walking/trying to run the past few weeks and boy is it tough.

Started with Clifton 10s but I feel very unstable on them, like I'm on stilts. Tried on altra torin 8 yesterday and wow did those feel like they were made for my foot ....I know they put a lot of strain (or so I was told) on the calves and as I haven't worked out/ran in quite some time I'm a bit worried they are too much for me. Am I psyching myself out too much?

Thanks In advance.

One shoe to take on a 6 week trip ?

Heading to the U.S. for 6 weeks this summer and looking for the ultimate “one-shoe” setup.
I’ll be there from June to August and plan to keep running 3–4x a week. Most runs will probably be in the 5–10 mile range, plus a local 4th of July 5K. I’m also planning one longer 36km run with my BIL.
Back home I’ve got a solid shoe rotation, but for this trip I want to pack light and only bring one pair that can work both as:

- a legit running shoe

- and something I can casually wear as a sneaker while traveling

I know it’s not ideal, but it beats sacrificing half the suitcase to running shoes.
Current thought is the Adidas Evo SL because it seems versatile and actually looks good casually too. My only concern is whether it’s too unstable for being my only shoe for 6 weeks. A lot of mixed opinions online about that.

Open to all brands/models. Budget is ideally under 160€.

What would you get?

PS: if it matters current PB is 10k-45:37, HM 1:43:48, both achieved in Boston13s

Arch blisters- I've tried everything!

Need some help regarding running trainers!

I've recently got into running and got a gait analysis done where they recommended the ASICS Novablast 5 as I'm a neutral runner. Went for a few runs and instantly got blisters on my arch of my foot. I went and bought a good pair of running socks, feetures and stance, to see if this helped but unfortunately not, still got blisters. I then went and bought a pair of Nike Vomeros 18s thinking it was the trainer but the exact same thing happened.

I went back to where I got my gait analysis done and they advised a pair of insoles as they believe my feet overpronate when I get tired. Few more runs and still having blisters.

I'm now applying vaseline to my feet, but again even after only about 6-8 miles the blisters start forming.

I did my first half marathon on Sunday and as expected by mile 6 I could feel a blister despite gait analysis recommended shoes, good running socks, insoles and vaseline. I'm at my wits end. I am really starting to enjoy my running but I dread anything over 6 miles.

Any recommendations? Should I try a more stability shoe?

Zoom Fly 6 for Race Day

Hi all. I’m looking for some solid advice on potentially making the Nike Zoom Fly 6 my race-day shoe for half marathons and marathons.

For context: I’m 6’5”, 195 lbs, and just ran a 1:36 half marathon (~7:20 pace) in the Vomero Plus. My projected marathon pace is probably around 8:30/mile (ran my last marathon a few months ago at about 9:00 pace).

The Zoom Fly 6 is on a pretty good sale right now, and I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the carbon plate benefits. I’m considering picking them up, but wanted to see what people think about using them specifically for racing versus keeping them as more of a trainer/workout shoe.

I’m not really looking to spend $300 on Alphaflys, so I’m curious whether the Zoom Fly 6 is a worthwhile carbon plate shoe for someone at my size and pace to benefit from on race day at both distances or if I should just keep with the Plus.

What shoes won’t kill my feet?!

I have been working in retail for the last 7ish years, and my biggest issue has been finding shoes that don’t kill not just my feet, but my knees, legs, and back! I spend a lot of my day standing as I am a cashier, but from time to time I do some moving around (I.e. climbing ladders, walking around, etc). Currently have the asics gel nimbus but as of recent my legs and bottoms of my feet have been killing me. I have had them for almost a year so perhaps that is where my problem lies, but if there is something better out there I would love to know.

Appreciate any and all recommendations!

Heavy runners (190+ lbs / 85+ kg) — anyone tried Kiprun shoes?

Hey everyone,

Kiprun (Decathlon's running brand) has been getting a lot of buzz lately Reviews are popping up everywhere, but they're almost always from runners in the 140-165 lbs range. Not super helpful when you're north of 190.

I'm currently running in Hoka Bondi 9 and I'm pretty happy with them, but I'm curious whether Kiprun could be worth a shot given the price point they're coming in at.

If you've run in any Kiprun model (Kipride Max, KD900, Kipstorm, Kipsummit Max, or older ones), I'd love to hear:

— Which model, and what kind of runs / distances?
— Does the cushioning hold up over time at our weight, or does it bottom out fast?
— Stability — decent or all over the place?
— For those who've also run in Bondi or other max-cushion shoes (Glycerin, Nimbus, etc.)
— how does it compare?

Finding reliable feedback for our build is tough, so any input
— good or bad
— is much appreciated. Thanks

Please help!

Total novice here, I went to a running store in a fancy suburb and got my feet fitted/finding a shoe that was supposed to be perfect for my feet. Cut to a couple months later the clinic is telling me a nasty infection is potentially due to the shoes. They're new balance 860s. Is there a better way to go about this if my feet consistently have a hard time fitting into shoes? Do you guys really just keep buying them to find the right ones?? I feel like buying new shoes will in no way guarantee my feet being not fucked up and in pain so it discourages me. Maybe Im being stupid and should just eat the cost. Might end up being cheaper than tending to infections and foot injuries.

Best Stability Runner

I think I've seen enough reviews on YouTube to qualify me for podiatry. I'm stuck between the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25 and the Asics Gel Kayano 32. The former being more firm and I think I've liked that before when I ran in the New Balance 880. I'll be retiring my New Balance Rebelv4 (probably too much cushion for me) I overpronate, have a low arch, and weigh about 250lbs. I will be trying them on in-store (hopefully) on Monday. I'm leaning Brooks because of the stability and that silver pair is dope! Would love some help. I'm chill. I run usually 3-6 miles with one marathon under my belt.

Superblast 2 - Pinnacle?

Is the Superblast 2 the pinnacle of ASICS?

It’s got a medium drop of 8mm, has the dream of stack height vs softness together with the perfect foam ratio. Only gripe is the overall stiffness but this lessens with time. The Megablast is stated 8mm drop but as Runrrpeat states is and feels like 10mm which is too aggressive imo. All personal but the mega irritates my knees and hips because of the drop. The SB3 is too soft (and the longevity seems very very poor compared to the 2) and is like a better version of the Novablast 5 which has weak foam. I wonder if like other brands, ASICS might meet the demand and start remaking the SB2 as I personally think it’s one of the best ever made for a reasonably fit, long run shoe at 5.45/km or faster pace.. I know it’s all personal but would love to hear your thoughts.

Running shoes recommendations

Hello,

My Nike Pegasus shoes gave up on me last month, so I’m now looking for a new pair of running shoes. I’m looking for something very comfortable, high quality, waterproof, and versatile enough for both trail and road running. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Thank you,

Zac

Running shoes.

Which running shoes do you feel most comfortable in?

I have been wearing Asics for many years, but I started having heel pain about a year ago after my run.

Yesterday I decided to try Hoka and they cushioned my feet better. I had minimal pain after my 10kms run.

Did I get fakes?

I bought these off of WhatNot. I paid $65. I’m new to running and wanted some new running shoes. Did I get fakes? I’ve had Brooks and these look a little suspicious. My other ones were made in Vietnam not Indonesia… I also just looked these up and can’t find a Revel 9?!?

Big trail walker, new to running, looking for wide toe shoes?

Female wannabe athlete here. I’ll just start by saying the most controversial piece up front: I LOVE CROCS. I love my crocs. I wear them everywhere. My feet feel so squished in regular shoes. I’ve worn my crocs for so long that when I switched back to sneakers 1.5 years ago, I now get calluses on the side of my big toe, and on the outside side of my heel…

I also play a lot of disc golf, so if it can double as a trail shoe I’d love that.

I’ve tried asics and brooks, honestly both are pretty comfy but the calluses keep coming. I’d honestly run in crocs if I thought it’d be healthy for me, but I’ve heard otherwise. I did play a round of disc golf in them the other day and my feet were much happier at the end of the round than if I wore my sneakers. I’m looking for something to mimic these free feeling comfort.
