Do packages that haven't had the tracking updated still arrive in time?

My parents sent me a small package on monday that i urgently need to be able to work. Tracking hasnt updated since my parents dropped it off, and it's been stuck at "arrived at usps facility." My parents paid extra to have it be shipped faster, and i really need it by today. For those who have been in this situation, did the package arrive by the expected date, or was it late/lost? Thank you.

What if anything can I do about a bad local post office?

Partially a rant, but I'm actually looking for help.

I'll preface this with I live in a smallish town (less than 50k people) like an hour outside of a bigger city. Our town used to have 2 post offices, but one burned down in a fire years ago and it's closed "indefinitely" under repairs. Most people believe it's never getting done. That leaves our one post office insanely busy with long lines.

I work in a customer service position and I fully empathize with the workers there. I've never had bad experience beyond some understandable grumpiness. It seems like we can't keep mailmen either because the person dropping off the mail for my neighborhood changes monthly.

So the problem:

I moved into this place 5 years ago. I immediately noticed that mail here was especially bad. Deliveries showing up later than normal, packages sitting at that post office scan for long times and only moving after complaints, my mail being frequently delivered to neighbors and theirs being delivered to mine.

It was COVID times so I understood things weren't running as smoothly. But it's been 5+ years now and if anything it's gotten worse.

I live in an apartment with a mail room. I'd say about 25% of the packages I order are marked as "delivered in mailbox" but aren't there and only a portion are delivered to my house later by a neighbor.

Our neighborhood next door is full of "looking for package" posts.

My mom sent me my childhood Nintendo DS via mail a year ago and it showed delivered but never showed up no one in my neighborhood ever came forward. I opened a missing mail case and even talked with our Postmaster (who was incredibly apologetic) but I never received it which bums me out to this day. (I hope whatever asshole kept my package enjoys my DS)

On the other end of the spectrum, I run a small Etsy business on the side and lose a lot of money because of this post office. If I drop a package off in the drop off bin, it's a gamble if it'll get the initial scan within 2-3 days. The lines are so long, but if I wait in them and bring it to the front, I get that initial scan but sometimes it wont move for a week from that location. My apartment doesn't have an outgoing mail area, but there is one of those blue bins nearby. I've learned the hard way that dropping things off in there could mean days or weeks of not getting scanned.

I've opened cases and cases and talked to the post master and talked to neighbors, but nothing is ever done. Our Postmaster seems like a nice guy who's doing his best, but it's at the point where I wonder if it's worth driving an hour each way once a week to bring my mail to the neighboring town. I've told all my family to ship UPS or Fedex because they at least mostly arrive. I pay extra from online stores to ship without USPS if it's an option.

Almost everyone in our town I've spoken to has agreed it's incredibly frustrating, and I know a few who have gone full Karen on the post office only for nothing to be done.

Is there anything that can be done here? Is this just the quirks of living in a smallish town? I'm at the point of not wanting to use USPS at all which is a bummer because their rates are by far the best for my area both outgoing and incoming. I don't feel any anger to any of the employees there, I think most of them are doing the best they can but they probably need to hire like 2x what we have with the other location being under repairs.

Has anyone had any luck with improving their local post office? Is there a way to complain higher or gather some signatures or something? I don't want to make a big deal out of this, but I'm at my wits end here.

I need to escalate this further

My husband and I have been asking our local post office to please start delivering packages to our door.

3+ years ago I opened the door to receive a package from my carrier and my dog barked at the door. The carrier alerted me my dog needs to be leashed or locked away and I did so, as I had opened the door not knowing it was her, the carrier. Since then we haven't received packages to the door. My husband and myself have left work early and gone and picked up packages, spoken with postal employees and supervisors 5-7x to say we made a mistake and the dog won't be at the door again. They said the would investigate the issue and alert the carrier to bring packages to the door. Never happened. We don't get a lot sent through USPS so whenever they told us they would investigate and alert the carrier we believed them until another year goes by and another package isn't delivered. We have been gaslit this whole time and now we have 2 young daughters who hate the car and we both work so it makes us hard to go pick up the packages before the post office closes. I've called the USPS hotline with my complaint which finally escalated the issue and then the postmaster shows up at my house while I wasn't home and he heard the dog barking and left this letter. Mind you, I WAS NOT HOME, DOOR WAS NOT OPENED, HOW DO YOU MAKE A CALL THAT MY DOG HAS A TENDENCY TO ATTACK IF THE DOOR WAS NOT OPENED????? this letter made me furious. You're really going to leave this letter because you heard my dog barking when you knocked at my door and rang the doorbell several times???

Carriers, I've seen your responses several times on this forum and trust me I will never agree with you getting attacked that's not okay. But 1) my dog never attacked the first time 2) it's been years since the incident 3) this letter again was left without ever seeing my dog as he was inside the house and I was not home and we have a solid wooden door you can't even see through.

I need to know where else I can escalate this because the hotline said there's nothing else they can do and the office of consumer affairs is not picking up

EDIT: my dog is 13, weights less than 20 lb has a broken leg and can barely walk/jump. I didn't include this because I didn't think it was relevant. but everyone keeps posting their stories of being attacked because a dog broke through a window or escaped through a door. he's barely moving. if I lock him up he isn't going anywhere trust me. when the first incident happened he was may 9 or 10 and moving more but please don't tell me he's at risk of attack because he barks. he barks cuz he's old and cranky and will not escape. he can barely move around the area of the house he's locked up on now

What happens in Denver?

Sender provided a tracking number and let me know they had shipped this Priority item on the afternoon of Thursday 5/14 (well before 8pm; why don't times line up between tracking and things actually happening?). PO didn't acknowledge its existence until Monday 5/18, and it hasn't been heard from since.

USPS is still optimistic that it will miraculously appear in Pennsylvania by Friday.

Just had my package marked as counterfeit

Before posting this, I did do some digging to see if anyone else was having this problem, but no solution yet.

My package had movement literally earlier today and now there’s no information at all anymore. Does anyone know what’s going on yet?

3 packages lost coming from New York

What is going on in New York? I live in Philly! My one package finally turned up in California and the other 2 are just missing. This is out of hand.

Misdelivered packages

Packages said it got delivered Monday. Wasn’t there, I made a service request and the supervisor called me yesterday confirming they got sent to the wrong address. He said they would be at my door today but still aren’t here. I should’ve followed up today but I assumed they would be here today. Should I go back in tomorrow and try to get them on it? I don’t know how someone can misdeliver both 2 packages. For all I know it’s probably gone now it’s been almost 3 days

USPS is driving me nuts!

I run a seasonal business that revolves around providing fresh palm products to church distributors, churches and parishs ect. Every time I use USPS my customers don't get their delivery or it's days late. It's insane how many times I've had this issue. Has anyone else had this issue shipping their customer orders through USPS? I've tried to not use them at all but some customers I have to. I'm sick of my customers getting shafted on their orders and then they are mad at me when in fact it's USPS!

can return to sender take several months internationally?

I had a letter get import cancelled by customs back in January and haven't heard anything from the sender about them receiving it yet (they're in China). usps told me it was marked return to sender so they have no tracking updates for it either. it's been several months already so I just wanted to know if this is normal...? I'm aware the current world climate might be affecting things but idk 😅 any insight would be appreciated..

I believe our carrier is being retaliatory and worried to complain further. What do you think I should do?

This is kind of a long story but I'll try to keep it short.

I live in a historic home turned into apartments. One of the tenants had their dog off leash while walking it to their car, also while the mail carrier was near. The dog bit the carrier.

I absolutely ABHOR people with their dogs off leash and have been bitten 6 times myself by dogs off leash so I completely understand the seriousness of the situation.

Firstly, I was upset that the postal service did not report the bit to the county animal control. If there's a dangerous dog in my neighborhood, I would want anyone to report it so if it continues to be a danger, proper actions can be taken. When I talked to the post master they said since the injury was basically minor and the carrier didn't receive care, they didn't think it was necessary...ok🙄

So the post office decides to hold all our mail (it was originally delivered to boxes by our doors) until a box was posted away from the doors because they now consider this dog a risk. The dog is Chihuahua mix and is most of the time behind a fence, but I understand.

So all of our boxes are moved. Problem solved...but not. I live on the back side of the house that has an sperate entrance on the other side of the house, we live on a corner so it's fully on a different street. There is two different fences in-between the dog unit and ours. We share this fenced courtyard with another house that my Dad lives. The post office has said they will continue to deliver to my Dad's place, as well as the other two units above him(it's also a converted small apartments).

The problem: There is one carrier in particular who continues to refuse to deliver packages to me AND my Dad, although the post office has said his spot was fine.

It's annoying but I could deal IF he would leave the freaking green slip so we knew where the package even was!! My Dad is a disabled veteran who is housebound and relying on mail for his medications along with other things since even a trip to the post office would have him on his back for weeks in pain. He gets most of his packages but some he doesn't and there's never any slip.

I also have had packages marked as delivered by door and no slip was received. Last weekend I finally tracked down a UPS package that was "delivered" but never received an attempted delivery slip for.

I went up to pick it up and said "This is the 4th package I have had to spend days contacting companies to try and find when the carrier could have left a slip. I'm really not trying to be an asshole and understand the dog thing but I feel like a simple slip would be the obvious solution"

Oh also the person with the dog just moved out so I told them and the man at the counter said he'd 'let them know'

To note: The first time I went to talk to the post master or whoever she was she told me a certain carrier is the one fussing over my Dad's location. She said "he's about to retire and his knees are going so I'm trying to work all this out" I felt like this was an over share but the conversation got pretty serious as I was really troubled about my Dad's meds and him being disabled...the tone of the conversation changed because I think she thought I was just mad about the dog thing at first, which I'm not.

So anyways, today I got to check my mail and the store flyers and my mail is all crumpled up in a ball and shoved into the back of the mail box.

Also another package for my Dad is missing 😩They told me I couldn't pick up his mail unless I was his power of attorney because we don't actually share the same address....I just don't know what to do and I feel like everytime I try to get a solution no matter how kind and patient I talk to them I end up missing mail or now getting it all smashed

What should I do?!?

Edits: spelling

Package arrived damaged, any hope with USPS claim?

Hi! Ordered some collectibles on Facebook marketplace and the package arrived looking like it just got beaten up, and one of the items was damaged. The seller sent me photos before shipping and they looked fine, plus it was packaged well enough, so I don’t think it’s their fault.

I just filed a claim with USPS and I’m wondering if I’ll actually get my money back here? I’ve never had this happen before.

Priority Mail Express stuck at Jersey City Distribution Center (NJ to CA) - Missed delivery date, no updates?

I’m looking for some insight or similar experiences with a Priority Mail Express package. It was shipped from New Jersey and was supposed to be delivered to California by yesterday (guaranteed delivery date).
However, the tracking has been completely stuck at the Jersey City NJ Distribution Center with no new scans or updates for over 24 hours.
Since Express is supposed to be guaranteed, I'm getting a bit worried.
Has anyone else had Express packages get stuck in Jersey City recently?
Does Express usually bypass normal delays, or is Jersey City backed up right now?
Should I file for a refund/missing mail search immediately, or wait it out another day?
Appreciate any advice or insight from employees or anyone who has dealt with this specific scan loop!
