Question about the Strength Erg

I have a lot of experience on other C2 Ergs, but not the Strength Erg. I don't have access to one, so I'm pretty clueless as to how it feels, moves, and what techniques to employ.

I'm asking because I have a Hyrox-style S&C competition coming up this Saturday called Crucible which includes it.

After a 900m run, 1k row, and 1k ski, I have a minute's rest and then I need to:

  1. Push 800kg with the chest apparatus
  2. Push 2400kg with the legs apparatus

(I have a lot more to do after that and total time for the even should be approx 35min.)

I cannot adjust the damper and I don't know what it'll be set at.

If it helps, I can quite easily rep out 80kg on a BB bench for 8-10 reps, and I can do the same on a back squat at 110kg. Just no idea how that transfers to this machine. I'm trying to estimate the time it'll take to accomplish this and/or a rough idea of the reps it'll take.

Any insights would be very much appreciated.

Concept2 Strength Erg

Has anyone had a chance to play around on this?

I don't have access to one, so I'm pretty clueless as to how it feels, moves, and what techniques to employ.

I have decent strength on a bench press and front/back squats, but I don't know how those movement transfer to the strength ERG.

Any insights would be very much appreciated.

AG Semifinals Thread

How we doing, AG semifinalists?

I did WODs 1 and 2 today.

WOD 1
Fun little couplet.

Not used to cycling squat snatches at 61kg so that was a nice challenge. Failed two lifts but got 'em all done in the end. Was nice to have to focus on form under pressure at heavier weight. Rope climbs got real at the end. Really had to ensure the arms remained straight and focus on technique.

Nice challenge. Finished under the TC. Sufficiently happy.

WOD 2
What. A. Slog.

Anyone remember all those lateral BBJOs with a mandatory step down from that diabolical couplet with wallballs in the QFs a few years ago? This wasn't that bad, but not far off. Not physically taxing, just monotonous.

And more shuttle runs in the same year? Come on, Boz. Try harder, my guy.

At 100 DUs, coupled with the HSW, you really had to focus on keeping the shoulders loose. The 25-foot unbroken rule made for interesting decision making and every choice to start was a gamble. Slowing down was probably a blessing in disguise, THB.

A grind for sure. At least it was a BW WOD. Got back to the rope for the 3rd round, but not as many as I wanted. Not redoing though.

Would love to hear insights from others over the weekend.
