I want to share an awesome place I found recently in Seoul called Hansik Space Eeum. If you are interested in Korean food culture but don't want to spend a fortune on tourist-trap experiences, this is the place.
Hansik Space Eeum is operated by the Korean Food Promotion Institute, a government-backed organization focused on preserving and promoting Korean food culture. That's probably why the classes are so affordable compared to many private cooking experiences in Seoul.
They have a cooking facility here where you can make traditional Korean food. I did a class to make "Ssukbeomuri"(쑥버무리) (a type of traditional rice cake made with mugwort, you can see how it looks in image). It only cost 15,000 KRW, which is honestly a steal. Depending on the day, they have classes for other things like Royal Tteokbokki (Gungjung Tteokbokki궁중떡볶이), Pumpkin Injeolmi(호박인절미), or even making Kimchi(김치) and Makgeolli(막걸리).
The 1st floor has a really cool exhibition space that is completely free to enter. They have displays explaining the history of Hansik, how traditional sauces (Jang) are made, and the culture behind Kimchi.
But the absolute best part if you like drinking? They have a traditional Korean alcohol (Jeontong-ju) tasting session. They literally have a huge exhibition wall showing traditional liquors divided by different regions of Korea, and they even have sessions where they explain the drinks in English for foreigners while you taste them.
Honestly, I highly recommend this place because it's super cheap (mostly around 10,000 to 15,000 KRW for classes), very interactive, and you actually get to learn the history behind what you are eating and drinking. It's way better than just going to a crowded restaurant.

I’ve been looking for some quiet getaway spots near Seoul that aren't too crowded, and I recently started digging into Yeoju. Most people just go there for the premium outlet, but looking at their local info, the area along the Namhan River seems really peaceful for a day trip or a weekend stay.
I haven't visited yet, but I'm putting together a rough itinerary to see if it’s doable. First on the list is Silleuksa Temple. What’s unique is that it’s one of the few temples in Korea located right by a river rather than deep in the mountains. There’s a pavilion called Kangworan built on a rock cliff over the water, and it looks like a great spot to just sit and watch the river flow.
I’m also interested in the Yeoju Ceramics Village (Doja-sesang). Yeoju is famous for pottery, and I heard you can find some really cool handmade pieces there or even try making something. Right nearby is the Birthplace of Empress Myeongseong, which seems like a good historical stop to walk around and take some photos of the traditional architecture.
Another spot that caught my eye is the Gangcheonseom Island. It’s supposed to be famous for Ginkgo trees in the fall, but it looks like a massive open lawn perfect for a light walk or just chilling by the river any time of year.
I’m still trying to figure out if it's better to bring a bike or just walk around certain areas. Has anyone here spent a day in Yeoju recently? I’d love to know if there are any specific local restaurants near the river that are worth a visit, especially for Ssambap (rice wraps) since I heard that's a thing there.

I’ve been looking for some quiet, nature-oriented spots in Korea for my next trip, and I recently came across a place called Wanju. It’s right next to Jeonju, but it seems much less touristy and more focused on mountains and local culture. I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, so I’ve been gathering some info from their official tourism site to see if it’s worth a 2-day stay.

The place that first caught my eye is Daedunsan Mountain. I saw photos of this intense suspension bridge called the Cloud Bridge and a really steep steel stairway that goes right up the cliffside. It looks a bit terrifying but the view seems incredible, especially since I'm planning to go when the leaves change. I'm also curious about the Samrye Culture Art Village. It’s an old colonial-era grain warehouse that they’ve turned into an art space and a book village, which sounds like a cool way to spend a quiet afternoon.

Another spot I’m considering is the Oseong Hanok Village. I read that BTS did a photoshoot nearby at the Awon Gallery, but what interests me more is that it looks way more peaceful than the crowded Hanok villages in the bigger cities. I’m also looking into the Cypress Forest in Gongsang-ri for some hiking and maybe a foot bath to wrap up the day.
