Fueling in the heat?

Hi everyone! I've officially started my marathon training block and I know I've got a lot of long runs on hot days ahead. For shorter runs I'm fine, but on longer runs there's one big struggle I'm having once it heats up: fuel.

In cooler temps I have no problem with my gels (Honey Stinger) or sour candy I've been using for awhile. But when it's hot I just can't bring myself to take fuel. I struggle to get it down (the texture of a warm gel or melty candy... ughhh) and if I do manage to, then I'm instantly nauseous and my stomach freaks out.

I'll take any of your best tips for hot weather fueling, or foods you rely on for fuel! I have a super sensitive stomach to begin with so I haven't ventured much outside Honey Stinger brand in general and candy I'm familiar with. I appreciate your recommendations in advance, I'm dying to solve this problem so I can enjoy my long runs this summer :) Thank you!!!

Group Training Turnover Tuesdays

Hi everyone! I just signed up for my second year of Tempo Thursdays, which I loved doing. I’m considering Turnover Tuesdays as well but on the fence. On one hand, I really enjoy speed work. But I’m prone to injury (on and off knee/hip issues) and worried about overtraining if I do both Turnover and Tempo sessions. I’m running the marathon in November and want my priority to be getting strong for that, not necessarily speed, so I don’t know if it’s worth adding to my training block… I’d love any insight from people who have done both, especially if you’re injury prone! Thanks so much!
