Logged into my NYRR account and noticed it shows your updated ferry time which gives a huge hint toward your wave for the marathon!
Edit: I’m 7:45 and pretty certain I’ll be chasing the sunset at the finish line now. My friend’s ferry is 7:30 so hoping that’s the same wave.
I’ve been running in Central Park my whole life and truly believe it’s the best city park (at least for runners) in the whole world. But the current state of safety in the park is ridiculous. People being killed is not a “freak accident” if it’s happening every week.
At what point are we ALL (bikers, dog walkers included) going to figure out a solution that works for everyone? There is a lot of tribalism over exercise hobbies, but I really believe the park can be a safe place for everyone.
When I was a kid, my mom was hit by a biker in a hit and run on the loop and only (luckily) broke her arm. I think a lot about how differently my life could have gone, and it makes me feel so horrible for those kids that lost their father a few weeks ago.
Has the park ever had this many fatalities, or is there some recency bias and I’m just not remembering? What can we all do to make the park a safer place for everyone? I’m interested in finding solutions, not finger pointing at bikers or dog walkers or whoever.
I am contemplating running this years New York City marathon with Jane Doe on my back. Let me be clear, I am Jane Doe, just as millions of others are also Jane Doe. With everything happening in our current culture I feel strongly about coming out of the darkness and into the light. My reason for wanting to do this during my marathon is because I already feel the weight of the abuse and want to be a beacon for others. I am asking the question if this is to political/controversial for our marathon? I also want to ask is anyone who is also Jane Doe willing to take on this torch too??
Anyone in the last stretches of marathon peak week and getting the aches and niggles and mental doubts? I’m almost ready for it all to be over! It feels like I’m one step away from a prohibitive injury lol. Looking for some camaraderie
Hi! NYC runner here training for the London Marathon 2027! I’m running the Saturday race, but would love to connect with other New Yorkers doing either day.
I made a similar post before Berlin this year and ended up meeting some great people. We had a group chat during training, shared running tips, connected on Strava, and it was a fun way to stay accountable throughout the training cycle.

I swore off running another marathon (this coming NYC will be my second) as I was in the peak of my training. I did, however, throw my hat in the ring for the Paris Marathon and I am seriously considering it. Maaaaybe 80% doing it.

I am on the UES, so I’ll start: as of 10/5/26, the entrances at 54th st and 71st st are open and available. The path runs from 54th st up to 73rd st, where it is then blocked off.
Hello - I will likely need a complicated revision surgery following a failed cheilectomy. The surgery will include a bone graft and correcting a contracture of the first big toe joint. Curious if anyone has had personal experience with fusion /other hallux rigidus related surgeries with either Dr. Lew Schon or Dr. Scott Ellis? Thank you !
