East side esplanade reopens 93rd-96thSt
Not sure if this is news, but this morning was my first run without the fences since the sinkhole worsened.

Not sure if this is news, but this morning was my first run without the fences since the sinkhole worsened.
They usually get announced by now, for August
Our trail training group was running clockwise on the loop this morning around 6:35am near the zoo when a runner came through our group and seemingly purposely ran into one of the women. I don’t think we were taking up the whole lane, and the collision happened on the inside anyway (I’d normally expect folks to run on the right like the pavement pictographs depict). In the off-chance that the person who ran through us is in this sub I’d be interested to hear if we were being jerks. We’ve been training as a small group for the last 10 years or so in the park and haven’t had any prior issues but am always open to feedback!
Otherwise, just a plug for the training groups to continue to be cognizant of not taking up the whole road and also for runners in general to be kind to one another, we’re all out here just trying to be a little healthier and happier.
For those who don't get NYRR emails, this a reminder that a 9+1 eligible race opens today at noon.
Team Champs 5 Mile on July 26 in Central Park was previously only open to active clubs, but will open for general registration today.
This is so tragic but my chronic injury has returned and I’m thinking about deferring my spot for next year (did the 9+1 in 2025 for the 2026 marathon). How do i go about deferring? Anything I should know about doing this? Any advice appreciated. Thanks!
I registered for the NYRR standby list soon after the Jun 9 race drop - has anyone had luck with this?
Im interested in starting one here in flushing maybe a sunday morning run or even weekday afternoons and then grow a community around it, hosting some events in the future.
Anybody else down?
Are we really supposed to avoid between 76-96 on the east side of the park? I can’t tell what is hysteria and what is recommended. Thanks!
I just need to get my +1 for this year, and I know there's only one chance left on July 16. I was wondering whether I should be worried about getting a spot, really don't want to miss out on 2027 just because of this. Was also thinking about if I upgrade to member plus, if I would get the early access on the 14th, just to guarantee a spot?
Hello! Does anyone have thoughts on the sleepy hollow halloween 10K course? It seems kind of hilly, but I don't know what total elevation is. Curious if it's a good option for running a fast race
I'm looking for a race that weekend, and this seems like a good option if I don't want to go to governor's island again for the haunted island 10K. Appreciate the thoughts!
I'm turning 30 this July, and thought it would be fun to go for a sub-5 minute mile. I've decided on this Saturday, July 11th, as the attempt date.
I'm hoping to find a pacer to run either part or all of the mile with me, as I find it so much easier to run with someone vs. solo, especially when pushing it. So come run a ~4:55-4:59 min mile with me Saturday morning. At the very least it should hopefully be a good workout :)
Hitting the time should be doable (ran a 4:4X last year at 5th Ave Mile and am in much better shape now) but think it will be much more possible with a pacer to keep me motivated for each lap.
If capable and interested, please comment and I will DM with more details on track and timing.
Just moved to manhattan two days ago, looking for non competitive fun clubs/groups that are pace inclusive (12-13 min miles). Any recs?
Anyone has recommendations for someone who can critique my running form? Not just a gait analysis, but arm swing, head position, feet flex, time on ground etc? Essentially i am looking for guidance to improve my overall form. Ideally with video analysis, in gym or track or outside somewhere
Running the marathon with the Alzheimer’s Association but not sure when we’re supposed to register and pay the $315 entry fee. Does anyone have additional info on this? I’ve already met my fundraising minimum and can’t get in contact with our coordinator. She doesn’t answer her email.
This morning’s run was a struggle. Really felt like I was swimming. That’s all.
Haven’t done the smaller races so looking for some info. I notice the 9/11 4M race says 730am start. Is that all corrals or are there a few waves? Trying to work out if I can make it getting into Penn Station at 6:52 or if I need a different plan. Thanks. (II’m corral c if it’s relevant)
Last weekend I made it out to the pride run with my camera geat and got a bunch of photos of people racing, and kept video going long enough to catch just about everybody.
If you saw my post from the mini10k, this is the same sort of video camera angle from up high. High enough to see over people's heads and see everybody, but it also means you'll be very small in the video until you're right below the camera. I put a clock on there with the race gun time to help people find themselves.
I also had a camera set up to shoot from a low angle looking up. It didn't have a vantage point to see as many people, but once the course got crowded and people were running close to the camera it got some decent footage. The battery didn't last as long so the footage sort of ends abruptly.
And for photos, I took quite a lot of shots! There's a few I haven't uploaded to flickr yet, but this is most of them. An album of 550 photos! Hopefully it can get up onto racing.pics soon as well so you can look things up by bib number.
So that's that! Let me know if you find yourself- and enjoy!
Looking for advice where to find hiking like trails to run in the city. I am prefer to avoid hard concrete or asphalt for my legs. Any areas with a 2 mile+ path I can follow?
I am located in queens
