What are summer streets like in Brooklyn and the Bronx?

Manhattan streets are over but how are they in Brooklyn and the Bronx? Do they get crowded too?

ASICS Metaspeed Sky

I’ve only put about 15 miles on these shoes, I can show you the strava if you’d like. Reach out via PM if interested! Men’s size 11.5 shoot me an offer!

Selling because I don’t wear them, purchased them in March. I’d love to pass them on to someone training for a race and looking for cheaper shoes!

EDIT: local pickup in flatiron or UWS

Hills Training for NYC Marathon

Would like to hear everyone’s take on whether it’s enough to do long runs in Prospect or Central Parks to prepare for the hills on the marathon course or whether it’s worth incorporating more hills specific training. Also wonder if it’s worth doing downhill training?

HELP! I'm in NYC for a week Sat 22nd - Sat 28th. 7 weeks out from a marathon

I'm visiting NYC for work next week. Current training schedule:

Monday PM - Interval track session
Tuesday AM - Easy run
Wednesday PM - Tempo track session
Thursday - Rest or Easy Run
Friday - Rest
Saturday AM - Long run

Staying in SoHo

Any suggestions on where I should run or routes to do my sessions would be very welcome.

Hoping to do 30km on the Saturday with 16km marathon pace - Central Park for that.

Doesn't look like there's a track open in Manhattan at the moment for Tempo or Intervals?

4 AM runs midtown Manhattan

Is anyone out there running early in the AM in midtown Manhattan? If so, where do you feel is safe to run? I have a 2 year old so I want to get the miles in before she wakes up and I’ve been nervous about running in the city this early in the morning.

Mile High Run Club Closing??

Just got the email notifying today that they are closing the studios with the last day being August 21st- UGH!!!

I loved their tread workouts (interval running- hills, sprints, etc.).... I improved my mile time by 2 min with them!

Does anyone have any suggestions for classes like Mile High? I'm thinking Barry's is realistically the closest thing, but not the same...

New Transportation non-compliance policy for marathon

It looks like NYRR is cracking down when it comes to transportation of the marathon. In the past it was pretty laissez-faire outside of the busses but it looks like that maybe changing.

Thoughts?

Long Run Advice Needed

hi, i am currently training for my first marathon.

i have grete's gallop this weekend but I'm not sure if it's wise to do the day before I do my scheduled long run (13 miles). should i try to combine the two, maybe run 6 ish miles, pause my watch and run the race?

i also have a 6 mile run scheduled for tomorrow. i was going to substitute that with the race on saturday. should i do my long run during the week?

NYCM Wave Placement

So after calling and emailing NYRR and getting 2 seemingly separate answers, I figured I might as well hit this sub as I’m sure I won’t get even more confused here….

Anyways, my NYRR best pace is pretty outdated for how fit I am at the moment. I haven’t actually “raced” in any of their races in quite awhile, but I’ve run plenty of half’s lately where I have raced, and those results are much quicker than what’s currently saved as my NYRR best pace.

In hopes of starting as early as possible at NYCM, I called and they told me “no we won’t accept a half marathon result for NYCM wave and corral placement. It needs to be a full marathon, or else we go off NYRR best pace in your profile.” Based off historical wave and corral assignments, my NYRR best pace would put me on the wave 2/wave 3 border, with wave 3 being more likely.

However, I also did email, and turns out they responded informing me they accepted and verified the half marathon result and updated my NYCM marathon registration with that much quicker pace, which would seem to pretty safely put me in wave 2…so anyone know which one it is? Estimated finish time (which in my case seems to have been verified) or NYRR best pace?

Asking all this now since this weekends race is the last to get NYRR best pace updated for NYCM. If I don’t have to race it, I don’t want to.
