Do you have phlebotomists at your hospital?

I’m curious how other hospitals handle blood draws.
I work as an RN at Alta Bates (Ashby campus), and whenever there’s a blood draw order, the nurses are responsible for collecting the labs. A friend of mine works at Mills-Peninsula, and they have phlebotomists who do the routine blood draws instead.

How does it work at your hospital?

Just wondering how common it is for nurses to handle all blood draws versus having phlebotomy support.

Charge Nurse Problem

There’s a charge nurse who has a habit of correcting or scolding staff in front of patients instead of pulling them aside for a private conversation.

What bothers me most is that they often don’t even ask what happened first.. they immediately assume the worst and call people out, which can be embarrassing and undermines your credibility in front of the patient.

Have any of you worked with someone like this? How did you handle it? Did you address it directly, bring it up with management, or just let it go? I’m curious how others would approach this situation.
