Had my surgery 24 hours ago and in hell
I’m sorry if what I’m about to ask and say is repetitive. I woke up immediately in a lot of pain. Like A LOT. They are giving me ketorolack and morphine but it only gives a very brief relief from 7/10 to 6/10. My throat hurts so bad I can’t even swallow my own salvia. I was also very nauseous at first as I swelled blood and bled more cuz i got so lucky to be on my period during this surgery. But that seems to be gone due to extreme amount of pain. And I have a high pain tolerance as I have two chronic illnesses that cause me pain. The nurses seem to be very dismissive and it’s very hard to advocate for myself as I cannot speak anymore due to pain and can only type. They seem to be only paging a doctor on call rather than my surgeon who I have to wait for to speak today. I feel afraid as to how I can be discharged today because I can’t swallow due to all the pain and how will I be able to manage my pain? Now I am dealing with a new side effects of having a congested nose that the nurses dismissed as well and forced to breathe out of my mouth that makes the pain worse as I have to keep the mount open. Please help me. Is this normal? If yes what can I do to feel better. How can I advocate for myself. I barely slept and haven’t had anything to eat or drink. I’m afraid they will send me home in such state. I constantly ice my face. And of course my face is numb. Is that normal? And nose bleeds with basically every movement with bright red blood. Please help. Please.
Update. Turns out I was born ginger lol. So it took a while for me to get to “sleep” and respond to morphine. They reassessed my pain meds and started giving me bigger doses and other meds as well. The throat is finally better thank god. As for the pain it’s less but still there. Surgeon told me they did a lot of me even though the surgery was only 3 hours and apparently I’m not as swollen as they thought I’d be. Also apparently no nerve damage even though it’s hard to believe that as I’m so numb which apparently takes so long to go away. I feel a bit better even though still like I’m at hell. His team is telling me my results are gonna be beautiful which is nice to hear. My nose is different by my top lip is so much smaller. Wonder if it will come back. I also get random itchy spots on my numb face not sure what’s that about. Also I have a go fund me where I tell my story of how I came to this surgery and what my condition is - if anyone is even curious to read it I’ll leave it here https://gofund.me/a7e8213da
Update 2
Swelling just got 100 times worse I wish death
