Gearbox/clutch noise

Hi guys,

Just looking for some opinions because I'm a bit confused about this one.

My Aygo/C1 ended up developing what sounded like rod knock, so I replaced the engine block with another used one. The mechanic swapped all the accessories over from my old engine (tensioner and everything else) and I kept my original gearbox. While everything was apart I also fitted a completely new clutch kit with a new release bearing.

The car itself actually feels good now, clutch is smoother than before and gears go in normally, but I noticed a strange noise that wasn't there before the engine swap.

When the engine is cold I basically don't hear anything, but once the car gets fully warm I get a sort of rotating bearing/dragging noise at idle. If I press the clutch pedal the noise disappears immediately, then comes back as soon as I release it again.

I already checked the gearbox oil level because that was my first thought. Oil level is fine, gearbox oil is new and it's the correct one too.

What confuses me is that before changing the engine I never had this noise at all. I'm trying to understand if maybe something happened during installation, if maybe something wasn't aligned perfectly, if a new part could somehow be faulty, or if removing and reinstalling everything can sometimes just create this kind of issue even if nobody necessarily made a mistake.

I'm also wondering if this is something minor that can be fixed without spending a fortune or if it usually ends up meaning taking everything apart again.

Has anyone had something similar happen after an engine/clutch job?
