Where does it end?
Looking for freelancer job, but nothing comes. Sent a lot of applications, a lot of bids, but nothing. Just wasted my time for 5 months. Where do you usually look for job?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for advice on where to find online writing work that is actually realistic for someone with a literature background. I have a degree in literature, experience with literary analysis, essays, criticism, creative writing, poetry, and general content writing. Over the past couple of years I've tried many of the common freelance platforms (Upwork, Freelancer, etc.), but I've struggled to find consistent work because of the competition and platform limitations. For people who have a background in literature or humanities, where did you find your first paid online writing jobs? Are there platforms, websites, agencies, publications, or communities that are worth checking out in 2026? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
I'm 28 years old and I have a degree in literature. Primary, I work as a teacher, but need second job. My background is in literary analysis, criticism, essays, poetry, and creative writing. I'm not expecting to become rich from writing. I'm just looking for a realistic way to earn some extra income online using the skills I already have.

I live horizontally and breathe darkness.
I spread left and right,
I grow, advance, push through,
yet it is still too narrow.
I am curled in on myself.
Each new rootlet breaks through
downward.
Still
darkness.
Still
silence.
Still
solitude.
I cannot see.
I spread, but in vain. I live horizontally.
I am a root
yearning for the sun.
