Samoyed is almost 6 and suffering from hip dysplasia among other concerns. Looking for advice.
My 6 y/o Samoyed Zuko was diagnosed with hip dysplasia which will be 16-20K plus diagnostics. Additionally he may need a knee surgery for 8K, a mass removed from his ear for 3K, and whatever other diagnostics necessary (which has already stacked to 3K). The hip pain escalated pretty quickly & he’s been well managed on 75mg Carprofen 2x/day but idk how long that will keep him comfortable. His breeder evidently did not carefully breed him and pet insurance wasn’t an option because of this (I did my research to the best of my abilities, this was not uncovered til 3 yrs after I got him). Before tearing me apart as a bad owner, just know I’ve given him everything I can - he is active, social, and very well trained. He lives a very happy life & I’m devastated at the possibility of euthanasia due to costs alone.
I just wanted to seek advice or support from anyone who has been in a similar situation or has any advice.
Sending love to all of you wonderful dog owners who put your dog above anything else.
