Every single GTA 6 trailer dropped on the first Tuesday of the month. June 2nd is next. Pre-orders on June 29.

Both GTA 6 trailers were officially scheduled for a Tuesday, both specifically the first Tuesday of the month.

  • Tuesdays

Trailer 1 was formally announced to premiere on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, it leaked early and Rockstar was forced to push it to December 4, a Monday, to get ahead of the leak. That wasn't their choice. Their choice was Tuesday.

Trailer 2 also dropped on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Two trailers, both officially targeting Tuesdays. Rockstar likes Tuesdays. That is not a coincidence, Tuesdays maximize the five-day news cycle before the weekend cuts media momentum.

  • First Tuesday of the month

Trailer 1 was scheduled for December 5, the first Tuesday of December 2023. Trailer 2 dropped May 6, the first Tuesday of May 2025. This is not just a Tuesday preference. This is a first-Tuesday-of-the-month preference. The first Tuesday of June 2026 is June 2. That is where Trailer 3 lands.

  • The corporate calendar

Take-Two's Q4 FY2026 earnings call is May 21. Zelnick walks in, reaffirms the November 19 launch date, and the hype starts. In both RDR2 and GTA 6's own Trailer 2 cycle, the trailer dropped before the earnings call so Zelnick had momentum walking in.

However, today (May 19th), this window is apparently closed. So the trailer comes after the call. Twelve days after the May 21 call, June 2 lands. That gap is consistent with how Rockstar lets earnings momentum build before releasing the next marketing punch.

  • The Red Dead Online schedule

RDO right now has events that run in weekly cycles: May 5-11, May 12-18, May 19-25, and May 26-June 1. The cycle that runs May 26 - June 1 is critical. Rockstar would not drop a GTA 6 trailer mid-cycle because their social channels, launcher banners, and news infrastructure are already committed to pushing live RDO content.

Dropping Trailer 3 on May 26, which some people predicted because it was the original GTA 6 release date, would mean launching their biggest marketing moment of the year on the same day a fresh RDO weekly cycle begins. That is a self-inflicted split that Rockstar, one of the most controlled marketing operations in the industry, would not allow. May 26 also breaks the first-Tuesday-of-the-month pattern. It is the fourth Tuesday of May, not the first. Two independent signals reject it.

June 1 is when RDO cycle 4 ends. Channels go clear. A pre-announcement drops June 1, and Trailer 3 follows on June 2, the first Tuesday of June, the first day Rockstar's entire communication infrastructure is free to focus exclusively on GTA 6. Every variable, the Tuesday preference, the first-Tuesday-of-month pattern, the earnings call spacing, and the RDO cycle calendar collapses onto the same date. June 2.

There is one more possibility worth naming. If Rockstar has no confirmed RDO content scheduled past June 1, that silence is itself evidence. If that is the case, Rockstar ends this online event marketing cycle (May 26-June 1) from RDO, on June 1, and launches the GTA 6 campaign on June 2nd.

  • Pre-orders

The historical range for pre-orders to open goes from 5 to 33 days after an important event. Pre-orders opened 5 days after the earnings call (GTA V) and 33 days after Trailer 3 (RDR2). Both times pre-orders opened on a Monday. Applying that range to a June 2nd trailer gives a window of June 8th to July 6th.

June 8th is too fast because game launches require retailer coordination, pricing reveals, and bonus content announcements that cannot be turned around in less than two weeks. June 15th is possible but still compressed. June 22nd works but leaves little time for the marketing team to build edition momentum.

June 29th is the answer. It is a Monday, 27 days after the trailer, close to RDR2's 33-day benchmark, and the last clean Monday before July 4th fragments US media coverage and retail attention. Waiting until July 6th loses the summer momentum window entirely.

The call is June 2nd for Trailer 3. June 29th for pre-orders. Both rooted in Rockstar's own documented behavior, their live-service calendar, and a structure that Take-Two has followed consistently.

  • Other scenarios

1. If Trailer 3 does not come out on May 21st and does not come out on June 2nd, then maybe the first Tuesday of July or is delayed to the second Tuesday of June, June 9th. Also, according to the Rockstar Games' history, the pre-orders could open up to 33 days after the release date of the trailer, possibly on a Monday.

2. If Trailer 3 comes out before the earnings call on May 21st, the pre-orders open up to 33 days after that, as it happened on RDR2's history.

3. If Trailer 3 does not come out before the earnings call on May 21st, the pre-orders still could open up to 33 days after the earnings call, as it happened on the GTA V's history.

4. If Trailer 3 releases on June 2nd and pre-orders are open immediately and simultaneously with the trailer, or up to 33 days after June 2nd.

So the scenarios are:

  1. No trailer is released until June 2nd -> Trailer on June 9th or the first Tuesday of July and pre-orders up to 33 days after that.
  2. Trailer is released until May 21st -> Pre-orders open up to 33 days after May 21st.
  3. No trailer is released until May 21st -> And still pre-orders open up to 33 days after May 21st, with the trailer being released after the pre-orders are open.
  4. Trailer releases on June 2nd -> Pre-orders open up to 33 days after June 2nd.

Rockstar Game's historical pattern: Trailer 3 drops May 22 to 26. Pre-orders open late June on a Monday.

  • GTA V

Starting with GTA V in 2012, Take-Two held their Q2 FY2013 earnings call on October 31 and used it to announce the Spring 2013 release window. Five days later on November 5, pre-orders opened. Nine days after that, Trailer 2 dropped on November 14. The sequence was call, then pre-orders, then trailer as a follow-up marketing punch to sustain the momentum.

Date Event
Oct 31, 2012 Take-Two Q2 FY2013 earnings call, GTA V Spring 2013 release window announced
Nov 5, 2012 Pre-orders open, 5 days after the call
Nov 14, 2012 Trailer 2 drops, 9 days after pre-orders
Jan 31, 2013 Delay announced, new date Sep 17, 2013
Apr 30, 2013 Character trailers (Michael, Franklin, Trevor)
Sep 17, 2013 Game launches

For GTA V, Rockstar used the earnings call to announce the release window and open pre-orders 5 days later. Trailer 2 came 9 days after that as a follow-up marketing punch. The sequence was: call → pre-orders → trailer, not the other way around.

  • RDR2

RDR2 in 2018 is the clearest blueprint we have. Trailer 3 dropped May 2, press previews went live the very next day, the Take-Two earnings call came 14 days later on May 16 with Zelnick with marketing material, and pre-orders opened 33 days after the trailer on June 4, a Monday. Trailer first, call second, pre-orders third.

Date Event
May 2, 2018 Trailer 3 drops (pre-announced 2 days earlier)
May 3, 2018 Press previews go live the very next day
May 16, 2018 Take-Two Q4 FY2018 earnings call, 14 days after Trailer 3
Jun 4, 2018 Pre-orders open, 33 days after Trailer 3, on a Monday
Oct 26, 2018 Game launches

This is the clearest blueprint. Rockstar drops the trailer first, press previews follow the next day, Zelnick walks into the earnings call 14 days later already with marketing momentum, then pre-orders open 33 days post-trailer.

  • GTA 6

GTA 6 has followed a similar logic. Trailer 2 dropped May 6, 2025, nine days before the earnings call on May 15. Even the delay announcement in November 2025 was timed to drop minutes before the Q2 call. The one exception is Trailer 1, which came 26 days after the November 2023 call.

Date Event
Nov 8, 2023 Take-Two Q2 FY2024 earnings call
Dec 4, 2023 Trailer 1, 26 days after the call (leaked early, forced Rockstar's hand)
May 6, 2025 Trailer 2
May 15, 2025 Take-Two Q4 FY2025 earnings call, 9 days after Trailer 2
Nov 6, 2025 Delay to Nov 19, 2026, announced minutes before Q2 FY2026 call
May 21, 2026 Take-Two Q4 FY2026 earnings call ← we are here
May 27, 2026 TD Cowen conference (Zelnick speaking)

With GTA 6, the dominant pattern is trailer before the earnings call, Trailer 2 came 9 days before, and even the delay announcement was timed to the call. Trailer 1 is the one exception: it came 26 days after a call.

The pattern is consistent: Rockstar gives Zelnick something before he faces investors. Both GTA V and RDR2 also opened pre-orders on a Monday, 5 and 33 days after a major content milestone respectively.

  • Trailer 3

The window to drop Trailer 3 before May 21 is basically closed. Rockstar almost always pre-announces trailers at least a day or two in advance, so anything hitting before the call would need to be announced today or tomorrow with zero warning. Possible but unlikely. The more realistic read is that the pattern is breaking the same way it broke with Trailer 1, and we're looking at the post-call window instead.

The earnings call on May 21 is where Zelnick reaffirms November 19. Trailer 3 then drops somewhere in the May 22 to 26 window while the hype from the call is still hot and May 26 being interesting because it was the original GTA 6 release date before the delays. Pre-orders then open in late June on a Monday, probably alongside a Special and Ultimate edition announcement following the RDR2 model of about 30 days post-trailer.

Red Dead Online and GTA Online

Another detail that strengthens the post-earnings call trailer window is the current live-service calendars for both Red Dead Online and Grand Theft Auto Online.

The current event rotation for GTA Online runs through the May 21 earnings call window.

GTA Online

(This one is interesting because the week transition happens exactly around the May 21 earnings call)

  • Week 1: May 14-20
  • Week 2: May 21-27

That creates a clean marketing structure:

• May 21, earnings call
• May 22-26, possible Trailer 3 window for Grand Theft Auto VI
• May 26, new RDO weekly phase begins
• May 27, GTA Online event week still active

Rockstar often times big announcements when live-service cycles reset, because that’s when they already push new news posts, social media updates, and launcher banners.

Red Dead Online Events

  • May 5-11
  • May 12-18
  • May 19-25
  • May 26-June 1

Another possibility is that Rockstar Games may prefer to wait until the current event cycle in Red Dead Online finishes before launching a major marketing beat for Grand Theft Auto VI. The current Red Dead Online schedule runs in weekly rotations: May 5-11, May 12-18, May 19-25, and May 26-June 1st. If Rockstar avoids interrupting those rotations with a massive announcement that would dominate all of their channels, the logical window for a new trailer would only open after June 1st, once that event cycle concludes and their communication channels are clear to fully focus on GTA VI. This would push the potential trailer window into early June instead of late May.
