Is Hormiga González Ready For Europe?
As Hormiga González has recently been linked to Greek Club, Olympiacos F.C., many are questioning whether or not he is ready for the jump towards European football? Though many are divided on the topic, I will say “yes”.
Here’s why:
Hormiga González finished the 2026 Clausura with 12 Goals in 17 games. One of his best attributes is being able to roam around the box looking to attack the ball towards goal from distribution of players such as Richard Ledezma and Piojo Alvarado. He has an innate ability to do so. Moreover, he was named amongst the 26 best players to represent Mexico in the 2026 World Cup. Though his time was limited at the World Cup, he’s club season is what most stood out. Yet, even so, Hormiga is still raw. At times, he still has difficulty finishing chances. Moreover, link-up play needs much work. At times, he misplaces passes, mess up control, etc. But with a prospect as La Hormiga González, he is definitely one to keep tabs on for the coming years, where he could play an important role for the 2030 World Cup cycle.
In the end, is anyone ever prepared for everything? We come into things thinking we are prepared, but if we never experienced such things, how could we be so sure? For Hormiga, he either makes the move to Europe and makes a name for himself and stays or not. Yet, to me, he seems humble, disciplined, and hardworking. At times though, he does looks as if he does lack the confidence to just forget past mistakes and try again. If he could just let past form go and focus solely on playing his game with confidence and self-belief, he will be a force to be wrecking with for many years to come, both in the national team and with club.
