Capitano's Return Based on Genshin's Only Precedent

Sandrone is the only character who was explicitly shown to die in the story and then come back to life.

That means we finally have a precedent for character resurrections in Genshin. If Capitano is going to return someday, looking at what happened before Sandrone's revival might help us predict the timing.

So the real question is: Were there any signs before Sandrone came back?

My answer is: Not really.

From Version 6.4 to 6.6, there was essentially no new information about Sandrone at all. Most of the details that were actually connected to her revival weren't revealed until Version 6.7.

If this is the storytelling pattern HoYoverse follows, then it's entirely possible that Capitano could also return without any obvious buildup or foreshadowing.

A lot of people say, "Capitano has been appearing and getting mentioned more often lately, so he must be coming back soon." But as far as Genshin is concerned, there has never been a character whose resurrection was preceded by a noticeable increase in appearances or mentions.

At the end of the day, that's just fan speculation. I think it's more reliable to base our expectations on the storytelling pattern that Genshin has actually used rather than assumptions made by the community.

Could Capitano's recent appearances be foreshadowing? Absolutely. But they could just as easily be fan service.

What we can say is that, just like Sandrone, he could return completely out of the blue.

So even if we go through several future versions without any new information about him, don't lose hope.

Thanks for reading.

Will Capitano's Character ID Be Revealed with the Snezhnaya Cast?

It’s often said that character IDs related to Snezhnaya will be revealed soon, but if Capitano becomes playable during the Snezhnaya arc, would his ID also be revealed at that point?

My understanding is that the IDs that will be discovered in the near future are mainly those of new characters appearing in Snezhnaya, and perhaps some Harbingers who appear early in the story as well. However, even if Capitano is planned to become playable, I think there is a good chance that his ID could remain hidden until shortly before release, much like Skirk.

What has the general pattern been regarding when character IDs become known? I'd appreciate any insight from people who are familiar with how this usually works.

The Biggest Question Isn't If Capitano Returns, But When

I think it's almost certain that Capitano will return at some point, but the real question is when.

Right now, I can think of three possible scenarios:

Option 1:
He returns in a Natlan epilogue or follow-up story, and then appears again in the Snezhnaya storyline.

Option 2:
He returns during the Snezhnaya storyline first, and then later appears in a Natlan story.

Option 3:
He doesn't return until a Natlan story that takes place after the Snezhnaya storyline has concluded.

Personally, Option 1 feels the most natural in terms of the narrative. However, it would also mean interrupting the Snezhnaya arc to revisit Natlan, which could feel a bit awkward when looking at the overall flow of the story.

Option 2 avoids that issue and feels fairly natural, but it still seems a little strange that his resurrection would likely require at least a brief return to Natlan.

Option 3 is probably the cleanest from a chronological perspective, but considering that things like Mistilteinn have already been brought up, it would feel odd if Capitano didn't appear at all during the Snezhnaya storyline.

Which option do you think is the most likely?

Or do you have another theory about how his return might happen? I'd love to hear it.

Capitano's Cryo Effects Lack the Standard Ice Crystal Particles

Has anyone else noticed that Capitano's Cryo effects never use the usual ice crystal particles?

https://preview.redd.it/gg3ek1c3x55h1.png?width=453&format=png&auto=webp&s=b537097a493ac0c6c794e217fad7569d65c6eaf3

As far as I could find, the only other character with this trait is Skirk.

At first, I thought it might be because he's using a Delusion. If that were the case, then other Fatui who use Cryo through Delusions should also lack the ice crystal particles.

So I checked characters like Signora and the Cryo Cicin Mages, but their Cryo effects clearly do use the standard ice crystal particles.

https://preview.redd.it/rwnol3o4x55h1.png?width=466&format=png&auto=webp&s=956b3d015d09c6dee5b1719f06b76416b93de6ba

That makes me think the Cryo power Capitano uses may come from something fundamentally different from normal Cryo or a typical Delusion.

Whether it's related to the Cryo Sovereign's power or something else entirely, I have no idea. But it feels like his Cryo has been intentionally differentiated from everyone else's.

What do you think is actually powering Capitano's Cryo abilities?

The atmosphere of Sandrone in A Winter Night’s Lazzo

I really like Sandrone as depicted in A Winter Night’s Lazzo (of course, I also find her current design very appealing).

In particular, her hard, inorganic-looking headdress strongly conveyed the concept of her being a “doll.”
A doll, after all, is ultimately an imitation of a human being, and because it can never be completely perfect, it inevitably carries a sense of artificiality and instability.

In Sandrone’s case, this was expressed through elements such as the fabric used to conceal her constructed body, the wind-up mechanism visible only on her back, and the plate-like headdress.

These details that emphasized her “artificial, doll-like nature” were very striking, and personally, I found them deeply appealing.

I wonder if there are others who were also drawn to the atmosphere of Sandrone in A Winter Night’s Lazzo.

Also, my previous post was meant to talk about what I liked about Sandrone in A Winter Night’s Lazzo, but it was interpreted differently from what I intended, so I have slightly revised the wording and reposted it.

The Light Realm Weapon

The idea of creating a weapon by harnessing the power of the Light Realm still hasn't been addressed in Nod-Krai, at least not so far.

I've been wondering if the project that Sandrone and Dottore were working on together was actually the development of that weapon.

I also can't help but wonder whether that weapon could be Mistilteinn.

If that's the case, it would make for a pretty awesome setup: the power of the Third Harbinger being utilized, the technology of the Second Harbinger turning it into a weapon, and then the First Harbinger wielding it.

What do you all think?

Bakunawa and Capitano Sharing Design Elements Can’t Be a Coincidence

Doesn’t Bakunawa’s design feel like it was inspired by Capitano?
Not just the overall face design, but even the diamond-shaped part around the mouth looks really similar to his.

https://preview.redd.it/ymoaqtp9o14h1.png?width=625&format=png&auto=webp&s=68b002875d7216f534af00f33617e33f32d61654

That’s why I can’t help wondering if there’s some kind of connection between them.
Bakunawa supposedly attacked Natlan together with the Abyss horde 500 years ago, so maybe Capitano fought Bakunawa in the past or was involved with it somehow.

Do you guys have any theories about the connection between Capitano and Bakunawa?
I’d love to hear any ideas or interpretations people have.

I have a question about a file.

I am looking for a file named “Avatar_Lady_Catalyst_LaSignora.”
I have already found “NPC_Avatar_Lady_LaSignora_01_Model,” “Monster_LaSignora,” and “Monster_LaSignora_Harbinger,” but I cannot find “Avatar_Lady_Catalyst_LaSignora” anywhere.

If anyone is knowledgeable about this, I would appreciate it if you could clarify whether this file actually exists or not.

About Capitano’s model potentially becoming playable (not very encouraging news)

I occasionally dig through the game files to look for common traits shared by characters that eventually become playable.

This time, I compared Capitano’s model with:

  • NPCs that are almost certainly becoming playable later (like Sandrone)
  • Characters that are very likely to remain NPC-only (like Roland)

and tried to figure out what exactly makes them different.

First, let’s talk about the things people often bring up:
the glider attachment points and weapon slots.

Those actually exist on basically every Avatar-type model, including NPCs. Roland has them too.

So unfortunately, those features alone are pretty weak evidence for playability.

Now onto the more important part.

Characters using Avatar models that are intended to become playable or bosses consistently have something called an “EffectMesh.”

What’s interesting is that even characters planned for future model changes already have it from the start.
For example, Sandrone is expected to receive a redesign later, yet her current model already includes an EffectMesh.

So… what about Capitano?

He doesn’t have one.

And that’s the part that worries me the most.

Some people say it doesn’t matter because it could always be added later.
The issue is: as far as current examples go, there has never been a character who received an EffectMesh afterward. Every known case had it from the beginning.

That’s why I think this is a fairly significant issue.
At the very least, it’s something worth being concerned about.

Of course, there’s still the possibility that Capitano is simply an unusual exception.
So I wouldn’t say all hope is lost.

But personally, I think the chances of the current model becoming directly playable are extremely low.
If he does become playable later, there’s a good chance his model will undergo major changes first.

Maybe the current model is temporary.
Maybe it was intentionally simplified.
We really won’t know until more information comes out.

And to be fair, model analysis itself isn’t definitive proof of anything.
A lot of it still comes down to interpretation and speculation from dataminers.

Honestly though, I still think the story gives him a better chance of returning than the model data does.

Anyway, that’s all from me for now.
If you have questions, feel free to ask — I’ll probably answer everything I can.
And if you want screenshots or specific comparisons, let me know what you want to see and I’ll share whatever I can.

When looking at other social media, I feel that many people are misunderstanding this point. A lot of people seem to think that Capitano paid Ronova’s price, and that this is what allowed the “paradox” he mentioned to come into effect.

However, that is not actually the case. Ronova feared the paradox from occurring and abandoned the very cost of “death” itself.

https://preview.redd.it/34liipzvwnxg1.png?width=554&format=png&auto=webp&s=a9a870cef066790273eba4089de3c21d4cdbe5d8

In other words, the sacrifice that was required in the contract between the Pyro Archon and Ronova no longer existed at that point.

I assume people in this community already understand this, but I wanted to clarify it again just in case.
