Capitano's Return Based on Genshin's Only Precedent

Sandrone is the only character who was explicitly shown to die in the story and then come back to life.

That means we finally have a precedent for character resurrections in Genshin. If Capitano is going to return someday, looking at what happened before Sandrone's revival might help us predict the timing.

So the real question is: Were there any signs before Sandrone came back?

My answer is: Not really.

From Version 6.4 to 6.6, there was essentially no new information about Sandrone at all. Most of the details that were actually connected to her revival weren't revealed until Version 6.7.

If this is the storytelling pattern HoYoverse follows, then it's entirely possible that Capitano could also return without any obvious buildup or foreshadowing.

A lot of people say, "Capitano has been appearing and getting mentioned more often lately, so he must be coming back soon." But as far as Genshin is concerned, there has never been a character whose resurrection was preceded by a noticeable increase in appearances or mentions.

At the end of the day, that's just fan speculation. I think it's more reliable to base our expectations on the storytelling pattern that Genshin has actually used rather than assumptions made by the community.

Could Capitano's recent appearances be foreshadowing? Absolutely. But they could just as easily be fan service.

What we can say is that, just like Sandrone, he could return completely out of the blue.

So even if we go through several future versions without any new information about him, don't lose hope.

Thanks for reading.

Misteltein, mistletoe and the power of life

Intro

Let me start off by saying I really want Mistiltein to have something cool to do with Thrain and taking down Phanes. I'm aware people often link Mistiltein with the event predating Ragnarok involving Loki tricking Höðr (Hodr) into throwing the one thing that could kill his brother Baldur which is mistletoe. Interestingly too the Primordial one aka Phanes is the name of a god of light from Greek Mythology. So he's a god of light just like Baldur. Moreover the brother who kills him Höðr (Hodr) is associated with darkness and winter (I mean come on Capitano has black ice and a void face.)

Technically Mistiltein the sword is Thrain's weapon from Hrómundar saga Gripssonar. It's not the same thing as the mistletoe that kills Baldr which is described as a dart or arrow. I believe Mistiltein is old Norse for Mistletoe so I guess it can connect to both myths or perhaps its more than one weapon.

So the theories about the Tsaritsa's polearm weapon that appears to have Naberius (Shade of life powers) tied to it presumably gifted by Rhinedotter (Gold) is what this Mistiltein Columbina mentions, makes a degree of sense. A weapon of life being the only way to kill the goddess of death.

But wait.....Thrain might still be relavent regardless of its HIS weapon or the Tsaritsa's anyway.

Hoyo may have specifically chosen to refer to it as Mistiltein instead of mistletoe for an additional reason that still connects it to Thrain even it doesnt turn out to be his weapon.

#Additional context about Myth Thrain

Fun but not so fun fact about Myth Thrain. Mistiltein is the name of his former weapon. Draugr/king/sorcerer Thrain, once weilded it and slayed 420 men and then later retired to a borough with his sword and riches. Eventually he turned into a undead creature called a draugr and is described as black and blue with cat like claws.

A man named Hrómundar stole Thrain's weapon "Mistiltein" killed him and then burned him to ashes so he couldnt regenerate. So basically Thrain was killed by Mistiltein.

#My 3 possible theories*

1.If Mistiltein in Genshin is Tsaritsa's spear imbued with the power of life it could play a role in ending or altering the curse of immortality. What Capitano calls the curse of absolute life. I'm not saying that Ronova's death would undo the curse just like that, nor would it be a good story if all the immortal Khaenri'ahns suddenly dropped dead and thats it. Rather it could be used to alter or reset the effects it had on Khaenri'ahns. Like an undo, revert, or rebirth button. Gold and the Tsaritsa could've decided to join forces since they both have possible personal reasons for it (a sinner trying to right her wrongs/ a mother of a possible Khaenri'ahn and close friend of Khaenri'ahns trying to give them a second chance) using Naberius's power of life.

In this way Genshin's Thrain is also killed by Mistiltein but he rekindles in the flames because he had to truly die (be rid of the curse) in order to truly live again. That and I think death and rebirth is a common theme in the Fatui both literally and figuratively. I think it has something to do with transcendence like the trailer title. It may even allow for the chance to become a descender or at least someone who cant be effected by the rules of Teyvat like most.

  1. Mistiltein could be Capitano's weapon used to kill Phanes, and they're combining myths but subverting Thrain's death (he lives on, comes out of the enternal flame rather than being damned by one and takes the role of Hoor (winter/darkness god). I mean Capitano is already a subversion of the Comedia dell'arte's Capitano and Genshin Thrain is basically the opposite of myth Thrain so he gets the right to be reborn instead of being denied it.

  2. What I said in 2 except he's killing or upsurping Ronova not Phanes. Kind of funny that she won't allow him to die and that would actually give him a huge advantage coupled with weilding the one weapon that could kill her. He did say the following -

>"Your curse in now the tool with which I will overturn the oppression of the gods."

Frankly Hoyoverse can pick and choose which parts of the myths they want to refrence or subvert but these are some scenarios that came to mind.

I actually managed to turn the ignition teaser into a loop and unexpectedly, it made the teaser more logical

First, I would like to ask you to watch, and only then read the post.

So, now I will explain why this order is much more logical.

Let us start with the Capitano scene. Why did I put it in first place? The answer is quite simple and logical, and I came to it a couple of months ago when I was playing around with editing. If the tournament takes place during the day, it makes no sense to invite Capitano in the evening/night of the same day (after the tournament). Thus, this scene can only take place before the tournament has started, that is, in the evening (early dawn?) of the previous day before the tournament begins. Out of all the scenes we see in the Ignition Teaser, only the scene with Capitano is in the evening (or morning?). Accordingly, the meeting between Mavuika and Capitano takes place before all subsequent scenes, since all other scenes clearly happen during the day on the day of the tournament.

Next comes a general scene where we are shown the characters from Mualani to Chasca, each touched by the ball. The scene is in the daytime, and chronologically it definitely takes place before Mavuika enters the arena of the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. And now think about it. It is strange that in the original order we watch Mualani proclaim the "announcement of the upcoming tournament, through Kachina's ball throw", and in the very next scene Mavuika says that the tournament is just about to begin soon.

It sounds like a certain time skip has occurred, where for Mualani and everyone else the tournament is supposed to start in the near future (a few hours?).

For Mavuika, however, this event, in my opinion, should happen in the next few minutes. She literally says "friends, take your positions", whatever that means, and we will return to this, but not in this post.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine whether this time skip was a day or several days long. Therefore, I will take it as an axiom that the time skip did occur, but around a few hours of the day when the tournament will be held. Precisely so that the difference in the perception of the event horizon of all other characters and Mavuika in the arena would align. (Roughly speaking: For everyone, the tournament should start in the next few hours -> a time skip of those exact few hours -> Mavuika invites her friends to take their positions in the arena).

And now mentally (although you have already seen it in the edited video) insert the most mysterious scene from the Ignition Teaser into the place of the time skip. Why should this scene be there? There are actually several clues:

First of all, even here, for Mavuika, the horizon of the tournament's start looks further away than in the scene in the stadium arena. It is as if these are the necessary preparations for the tournament. She literally declares that it is "Time to burn again", implying that this has not happened yet and is about to happen (keep this in mind).

Secondly, one of the main clues has been right in front of us all this time. It is the light from the gates/entrance. This is an obvious clue that outside at this time it is daytime, and in its full swing, because the light is very bright. Naturally, the developers did not want to render the entrance area since that would be a spoiler for where it takes place, but they at least left a clue in the form of bright daylight outside the room.

I have mentioned before that I believe this scene does not take place in the Mare Jivari, and there is one proof of that. If you listen very closely, an echo can be heard in all of Mavuika's actions, even if a very distant one. By all laws of physics, such an echo means a very large but enclosed space, which the Mare Jivari is not.

Thirdly, if viewed in my order, these sounds resembling a heartbeat align into a single progressive line. Each time they are heard louder and louder. During the entrance in this scene, you can literally hear 3 distant beats. Next, we begin to hear a series of about 20-25 beats of moderate intensity.

And we smoothly transition to the scene in the arena, where we hear those same heartbeat-like thuds. Here they are heard with the greatest intensity. This entire sequence ultimately looks as if Mavuika has unleashed some ancient power from the most hidden and secret corner of Natlan, which had been waiting for its moment.

This is exactly where the very thing that Mavuika calls "Time to burn again" in the previous scene happens. We watch the Sacred Flame flare up much stronger than usual. I already noted in an old post how much this resembles the Sacred Flame during Mavuika's time travel from the "Sunset" animation. (Therefore, it is even more logical to place the time-rewind scene after the stadium arena scene).

In addition, I also noticed that at the end of the scene presenting all the key figures of the region, we are shown a close-up of the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. And there we can still see the Sacred Flame burning in its normal mode (we can notice a blue flame at the bottom of the fire itself, whereas in the intensified mode in the arena scene, the blue part of the fire is already missing).

If we keep the time-rewind effect after this scene, it allows us to perfectly loop the edited Ignition Teaser. For this reason, I believe the stadium arena scene should be the second to last one, since it is followed by the "time rewind" scene.

Generally, it is a rather common trope to end a season or some important part of a story right before the very start of a tournament. Therefore, I will not be surprised if the true end of the Ignition Teaser is the tournament arena scene, and the time-rewind effect was added to allow looping the teaser with the proper arrangement of the scenes. (I do not diminish the fact that the time rewind must still mean something on its own.)

I only remembered at the very end that the cover of the Ignition Teaser is precisely the scene of the meeting between Mavuika and Capitano, which serves as yet another clue that this scene should be the first. And also, notice how similar the style of the flames is in the most mysterious scene and the arena scene. Given my post from two weeks ago, there simply must be some kind of connection here.

So what we're doing if he never gets off the throne?

Not doom posting, just offering a different perspective: What if hoyo really never intended for Capitano to be playable and doesn't have plans to bring him back. That his arc is done, that he was really created just to be a plot device to save Mavuika.

Theorizing, speculating, seeing signs, all of that is fun and all, but there's hopium and there's hoyoverse's wishes as a writing/narrative/developing team.

And if that's the case? what's the plan?

I think I should take a break from cope

Yes, I know, there is the canva with so much evidence including files but what if capitano just won't be playable?

No, I am 100% sure he will for Now. But no one knows what's in hoyo's heads is happening.

If I set my expectations too high, I might end up heartbroken if he won't become playable in Khaeri'ahn patches.

My last stop is january according to my theory. If he won't become playable in these versions I will just throw all the expectations away and just play for the lore of genshin. Maybe he will become playable in Khaeri'ah even without my expectations.

After all, waiting for a character you love is easier without this burden of expecting anything.

Crazy theory

I have a feeling that Hoyo has a sort of "emergency fund" in mind for if the game starts to decline after the Teyvat arc. I believe they’re holding back highly hyped characters to release if the game’s performance drops significantly after Snezhnaya or Khaenri'a, characters like Capitano, Alice, Madame Ping, the Shades, Pierrot SInners, witchs or even La Signora or a version of Dottore, who knows? As long as the game keeps raking in huge revenue with average characters, they won't feel the need to unleash the game's true "prime" content.

Updated Automod for Increased Repost and AI Karma Farm Bots | How moderation works?

Recently, there has been a surge in karma-farming bots—whether they are reposting old, popular content or flooding posts with comments—and unfortunately, I have started seeing them frequently in the subreddit. Although I try to delete the ones I spot or that are reported as quickly as possible, I inevitably miss some. Therefore, I would like to explain the changes I’ve made to AutoMod and how the moderation system operates.

First, the combined karma threshold (the sum of post and comment karma) has been raised to 10. If this doesn't resolve the bot issue, it may be increased to 20 in the future. So, what does this mean? If your karma is below 10, your post or comment will be sent to the "mod queue" for approval, and all moderators will receive a notification. Then, whichever moderators are active will approve your post or comment as soon as possible. There is no need to send a modmail regarding posts and comments removed due to karma thresholds, and doing so will not help you get approved any faster. Feel free to use modmail for any other questions or issues.

I’ve also made some minor improvements to the modmail code, though you might still encounter occasional, minor AutoMod errors. I hope we can succeed in keeping bots and AI out of the subreddit. Please don't forget to report any posts or comments you suspect are from bots to both Reddit and us!

(Karma bots generally fall into two categories: the first type spams comments under posts that are clearly AI-generated. The second type consists of accounts—often just 1–10 days old—that post in completely unrelated subreddits and have disproportionately high karma for their age, usually by reposting popular posts from those subreddits.)

Summer Capitano? “Lifeguard Capitano”

Planning on making a summer capitano for a convention this next weekend, cause let’s be real, the outfit is way too hot normally and there’s a heatwave wear I live right now.

That being said, I have the shirt and the helmet, but I’m trying to decide on a few things:

Tan or Black Cargo shorts? I feel Capitano would wear black or white personally, but Tan is a more summer color.

I might try and make a sword using pool noodles and pvc pipe, but unsure if I should use random colors or blue for the “icy” look.

I would love a plastic lawn chair to carry around but that’s a lot of work to carry at a con, but it would be really funny since he’s been. Sitting for 2 years now. Maybe just for photo shoots at home. I like the idea of “Lifeguard Capitano” cause he’s sitting all the time and he’s a guardian of the living and the dead.

But any suggestions for the fit? I’m open to ideas. I might wear the Robe/Fur piece on top of the outfit but I haven’t tested how well it looks and not sure if it would clash too much.
