Here is how I bought Dangote IPO shares and other NGX stocks for diaspora (African)
So many people are interested in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO - especially other African nationals. As a non-Nigerian, I do not have NIN and BVN to quickly register with brokers. I tried almost all but was hindered by the BVN.
Recently, I discovered that it is possible to participate in the Dangote Refinery IPO through Bamboo. Bamboo has made it possible for select African citizens to register, verify identity (passport) and address in the selected African country, and participate in the IPO.
Here is the main disadvantage. You do not own the shares directly but you rather own them through as a nominee (someone else owns the shares on your behalf but you are the beneficiary). As a nominee you are not issued share certificates and you lose certain rights such as voting.
As i am not sure how this works, I am proceeding with caution. Has anyone else any experience with this?
