Caption: This young Nigerian inventor, Khalifa Aminu, is using smart technology to help visually impaired people navigate more safely and independently.
His invention is a sensory glasses that uses ultrasonic and infrared sensors to detect obstacles ahead and alert the wearer through sound.
The innovation is designed to make mobility easier for people living with visual impairment, while reducing their reliance on a walking stick.
Extraordinary work by sculptor John Amanam
Tried to take a Reddit pic before eating and almost lost the plot 🍲🦀
The plan was simple: snap the food, post am, then chop my food in peace. Instead I opened the bowl to "arrange" it small and next thing I know I'm three claws deep, bowl half empty, phone still open to camera lol 😆
What's in here:
Seafood Okra Soup 🍲
Ingredients Main,
Crab 🦀, cooked down in a pepper sauce (peppers, onions, seasoning, that dark rich sauce base)
Grilled fish 🐟, coated heavy in pepper and spice
Starch (the soft white swallow, wrapped)
Jumbo Snails🐌
Pounded yam, wrapped separately
The pepper sauce is doing its own work on the side, it's the kind that makes you forget you were supposed to be documenting instead of eating.
Who else has "just wanted a picture" and ended up in a full meal before they realized? And which Lagos combo does this to you every time?
I ordered "English Breakfast" for hotel… dem serve me "Google Translate English Breakfast" 😭🇬🇧➡️🇳🇬
The breakfast dey free with my hotel booking, menu get both American and English options. Me wey be big boy, I say make I try "English Breakfast" as I dey see am for movie normal Peaky Blinders.
Instead na this one land: 🌭🍳🍅🍄🫘🍞
Sausage (looking suspiciously like the ones wey dem dey sell for roadside), scrambled-ish omelette, one lonely grilled tomato, mushroom wey shy for corner, and beans wey dem dabaru with tomato sauce like say na jollof audition.
No bacon. No black pudding. No hash brown. Nothing wey resemble wetin we dey see for movies oh "Full English." Na budget cosplay b this!
At least dem try the bread basket dey correct, fruits fresh, juice sweet. But abeg who told this hotel say beans+sausage+one tomato = "English Breakfast"? Which embassy approve this one? 😂
Rate am 1-10 for "English-ness."
Which Naija hotel don serve YOU breakfast wey dem lie about the name? Drop your own disappointment story make we laugh together 👇
🍲Turns Out Nigeria AND Ghana Have Been Fighting Over Someone Else's Rice This Whole Time😂
The Jollof wars between Nigeria and Ghana have been running for years — endless debates, social media battles, “my jollof is better than yours” energy.
But here’s the plot twist most people skip:
Jollof rice didn’t start in Nigeria or Ghana.
Historians and UNESCO both point to Senegal.
The original dish is called Thiéboudienne (or Ceebu Jën in Wolof) — “rice and fish.”
It comes from the fishing communities of Saint-Louis in Senegal and is tied to the old Wolof (Jolof) Empire. That’s where the name “Jollof” actually comes from.
Senegal’s version was even added to UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Nigeria and Ghana later developed their own popular tomato-based styles, and the two of us have been loudest about who does it best ever since.
So while we’ve been busy arguing about party jollof vs smoky party jollof, the Senegalese have been quietly sitting on the original recipe the whole time.
Does this change anything for you?
Or does “best taste” still matter more than origin?
Be honest in the comments 👇
Nigerian jollof still wins for you or are we finally ready to give Senegal their flowers?
