Can functional medicine help with weight loss?

I’m wondering if functional medicine could help me with weight loss. I’ve often wondered why I’m not thinner for the amount of working out & activity I put in overall in the last 20 years. It’s hard for me to carry around an extra 10lbs (now 20lbs since turning 40) while I’ve worked out 4-5 days/week since my early 20s (with probably 3 years of not being consistent when my kids were babies).

I was an overweight kid/teen
Early 20s joined gym,dropped 20lbs
Late 20s-30s, got married, had 2 babies, gained 20 lbs. Worked with dietitian lost 10is lbs with calorie restriction
30s-40s gained 10 back, stayed there.
40 - gained 20lbs. Family stress & a more sedentary job but only for 10 months.
Balanced meals, but I like chips and dessert. Alcohol very occasionally
Worked out 4-5 days/week 20s-40s

Any advice? Is this hormonal? Genetic? Could a FM provider help? I go back and forth between - I just eat too much, if I could stop, I’d lose 10lbs and it’s just genetics/I’m screwed. I don’t know many people in my age range that have worked out as much as I have over the last 20 years - why am I not thinner when other people seem to just eat and drink alcohol to their hearts content and they are thin. (I don’t mean that in a judgy way - I don’t care how other people eat/work out, but it’s hard not to compare myself when I’m unhappy with how my clothes fit)

Another point with food - for a long time, I would work out and come home and be starving and eat everything in my path. I learned to do a protein shake after a workout and it has helped tremendously (but it’s still extra calories, so maybe it’s a wash? But at least I don’t feel out of control)

TL;DR: Looking for advice on weight loss. Struggled with weight my whole life, despite a consistently active lifestyle from 20-40 years old.

Rehoboth restaurant with flag decoration made of pencils??

Hi - I visited rehoboth beach a few years ago & ate in a restaurant that had a decoration on the wall - it was a flag made of red, white and blue pencils. I thought I took a photo of it, but I guess not. I was hoping to make one for my husbands classroom - history teacher. Does anyone happen to know what restaurant this would be or have a photo of the flag?

I cant seem to find a similar craft online/pinterest. I could probably wing it, but was hoping to have a reference photo. Thanks!!

Edit: I think the restaurant had an upstairs. Finn’s something maybe?

Estranged uncle asking me to reconnect with his son (my cousin) and has 3 of his own kids that my cousin doesn’t know about.

An uncle who I haven’t spoken to in years (because he was HORRIBLE to my beloved grandma Barb in the last few years of her life when she was suffering from dementia) Facebook messaged me asking if I would reconnect with his son (who I also chose to stop speaking to around the same time for other, semi-unrelated reasons). What this uncle doesn’t know that I know, is that he has 3 kids from his first marriage before my aunt, and he abandoned them. So I feel like telling him to fuck off and bother his other kids and not me. I also don’t think my cousin knows about his half siblings. (I could be wrong.)

I spent a lot of time around these people growing up and it was not common knowledge/spoken about that he had other kids. My mom dropped it on me as a family secret when she too, was frustrated with the way uncle was acting during grandma’s last years.

Uncle, cousin and aunt were always self-centered know it alls, who never did anything wrong. We put up with it because “we’re family.” But aunt and uncle were nasty to my grandma toward the end and cousin had his own personal upheaval around the same time - leaving his wife for a pregnant coworker (who had 2 older kids also), and claiming the baby wasn’t his. 🙄 He conveniently was listed on the birth certificate when the baby was born and they acted like he was a hero for doing this and saving baby/mom from her horrible ex-husband.

It’s likely I’ll do nothing about the message he sent - I don’t want anything to do with any of them. I’m not angry at my cousin, but I don’t want to see him/reconnect. He was always hard to take. Sometimes I think he deserves to know the information I know about his half siblings. And it does piss me off that my uncle wants me to be there for my cousin because he is worried about my cousin not having any family after he and my aunt are gone. If he wanted Barb’s granddaughter to be in his son’s life, then he should have treated Barb better. And he should have been there for his other 3 kids. Why put it on me now?
