UIC nursing program

hello! i am currently a senior in highschool. UIC is on my list for nursing and i feel as if i have a 50/50 chance at admission due to their competitive nature. my sister (a uic student) is saying i should go the LAS route, to further my chance at getting in, but i’m not too sure. with my stats, what do you think my chance is and should i involve myself in additional activities to strengthen my application?
