No response to emails - discrepancy in Final Grade Letter

Honestly sick of getting little to no responses to emails when the letter grade I’ve gotten is not correct. I don’t even know what to do at this point. Like keep emailing?! They just don’t even respond. After paying thousands of dollars it sucks that I have to run around begging for someone to fix my grade when it wasn’t even my fault that it was put in incorrect.

Do I need a car?

So I'm going to be a transfer in the fall and live about 5 hours away. I don't really want to take my junky car that far. Do I need a car or will I be fine without it?

Edit: I will be dorming on campus

Financial Aid Cancelled

It's my first year in college and I honestly do not regret coming to UIC and experiencing what I did this school year. I finished first semester with a GPA lower than a 1.0 and I was placed on academic probation, I was advised to get my grades up to a 2.0. I knew this was going to be dang near impossible for someone like me but regardless I locked in. Halfway into my second semester I end up having more family, mental health and financial problems but I persevered and I finished this semester with a GPA over 2.0 for the semester and an institutional GPA of 1.60.

My financial aid still got cancelled and I have plans on submitting that SAP appeal but I'm now heavily considering going to community college to get my grades up. My career choice is to be a radiology technician or a social worker.

I wanted to ask if anyone knew if I would still qualify to go to CCC for free? I graduated high school with a gpa above 3.0 but already completed a year at UIC. I'm looking for the best thing for me financially since I'm currently looking for a therapist and want to save as much money as possible. I've contacted my academic advisor that I want to get started on the transfer process and they haven't replied so I've been a little confused on how to start.

Staying at UIC for the summer

I’m interning in Chicago for the summer and I’ll be staying at UIC. I would love any recommendation for any good bars or restaurants around campus as I won’t have a vehicle.

UIC - am I cooked?

Im a current UIC student. My chemistry and biology classes have been beating my ass. Ive has to retake two chemistry classes now and a bio class(all have lowkey been my fault but I’ve accepted it and am moving on). However, im striving to be a dentist. I plan on going to dental school after here (no gap year). How likely is that to happen? All things considered my gpa is not at all the greatest.

Student Org Officer Training Form Notifications

Is anyone else having trouble with the Student Org Officer/Advisor Training form notifications on CampusGroups?

I’m doing re-registration for my student org, and I sent/resend the training form notification to the officers and advisor, but none of them are receiving it. I also talked to a few other org presidents, and they said their officers are having the same issue.

Is this a CampusGroups-wide problem right now, or is there another way to get them the form?

What’s the psychology major like?

I’m interested in psychology but I HATE English essays. Does a psychology major require a lot of English related assignments and essays or is it actually focused on psychology?

Is there any hope for me? - American high schooler

Please try not to judge me too hard. I beg. And don't just comment something like "No." Not because it's not true, and not because I need any reasoning— I know I fucked it all up. Just for my ego. Maybe that's a sign in and of itself. But I know not many people will see this anyways.

I'm 17 year old Junior and have been hospitalized 3 times, all 3 years of high school, not counting partial hospitalizations (two of those, both during the school year). I have a GPA of 2, roughly. It hurts me too much to check.

Before all this, I was a straight A honors student. Middle school, all honors. Freshman year, one AP class, Beginning of Junior year, 4 AP's. I have no doubt I could've handled them all stellarly if life didn't bestow me such draining circumstances.

But here I am, no extracurriculars, low GPA, looking towards community college. Absolutely abysmal ACT score. But that can be retaken if I raise up the money. But I really want to move out during college. My parents are unconventional and the source of many of my troubles. I can't help this violent need of escape from this life. I am putting it lightly, but I need to leave.

I very much cannot afford the dorms at the local community college, and my parents want to keep me here as long as they can. It's cultural for them. My local community college is the only one available.

We live close to a major city. I always wanted to go to college there. Can I do anything my senior year to go to that college? I'm sure I can write up some good essay, and my teachers are kind enough to write me a good letter, and I have a good sob story to boot. Is there any hope for me other than community college?

I don't know how many extracurriculars I can scrounge up during senior year. Sports are off the table, I failed too many classes. But any piece of advice would be helpful. I know I'm damned. So if I am, tell me so. But God, if someone can offer me a little bit of hope, that's all I'll need.

Maybe I shouldn't be saying this, but the college I want to go to is UIC. And said community college is JJC. I am in the Chicagoland area.

Thank you!!

Do I need to do in person orientation?

Hey guys, I'm an upcoming transfer student and I'll be here in the fall, I was wondering if I have to do the in person orientation or if it's just strongly recommended (emailing orhelp did NOT give a yes or no answer). I do t have any orientation holds and I know my way around campus, so I'm just wondering if I should spend the money and go if I don't have to.

uic or loyola

i need help. i am pursuing a career as a school psychologist. i previously went to a community college and look to transfer to either UIC or Loyola as an undergraduate. i was accepted by both, but now i have to decide which is most convenient for me.

i received scholarships from Loyola thanks to my GPA, and the cost is now not much different from what i would likely pay at UIC. the main debate is which would better cater towards my career goals. any suggestions or recommendations?

If you bought from the apple sale, when can we turn on our devices?

If you bought a non demo electronic during the 50% apple sale at the UIC bookstore, you were most likely told to wait until tomorrow (which is now today) to turn on and use the device in order for the warranty to kick in. Any idea if we can turn on our device now?

Do fall classes usually get full so early?

Hi all,

Just got admitted as a transfer student. Apparently new student advising for transfer students doesn't start until June 1st, but registering for classes opened up in April? How am I supposed to know what classes I need before meeting with an advisor? lol. I barely found out about the foreign language requirement, so I opened up the class registration page and everything is almost full already. I wanted to take KOR101 but I guess I can't?

Do more class sections open up during the summer? Like should I just pick random classes I think fit by looking at my degree audit lol

Is a pass for transit from city to home (like taking the train) free for students?

Free as a part of tuition, like I won’t have to sign up and pay extra for it? Also do I need to do anything to get it? Or is it automatic? Can I use it in the summer?

What should I do about my summer classes?

So boom, right, i signed up for 4 credit hours originally which was going to be $2688 out of pocket for me. I dug a little into it, and found out that if i do 5+ credit hours i could get sum money from the year-round pell grant thingy. so i signed up for one more class now holding me at 7 credit hours and costing me $4704. THEN my pell grant stuff got updated so id be getting $2071. All this to say, financially, id be back to where I was. So, i was looking for any one credit hours classes hoping that i could just barelyyy get the 5 hours and use the pell money to my advantage. but i cant find any that are online at uic and im like pretty sure im cooked. So, should I just unregister for my classes this summer?

Note: im newly unemployed so this is a lot of money for me and i don’t wanna pull out loans. for now ima keep looking, but its not looking so good
