Help with low enrollment in rare heart disease

I’m working for a sponsor on a rare cardiomyopathy in a competitive environment and we’re very behind on enrollment. If you had decent resources, what do you look at first? We are adjusting the protocol now, but I don’t think it will move the needle all that much. The patient advocacy group has done a lot, but I need to reach patients beyond the group now. How do I find patients? Do I find an advertising company? If so, who is good at this? Help!

5% experience shedding going from topical to oral minoxidil

I’ve been searching for information on transitioning from topical to oral minoxidil and was really confused about what to do. I found a study that basically said you don’t need to overlap them, the risk of dread shed is only about 5%. My doctor said I could do whatever I wanted, so I opted to just stop the topical when I started oral. I figured I can always add it back, but I really hated the topical. I wanted to pass this along in case someone else was trying to navigate this.

Found the cause of my stones

After basically diagnosing myself with hyperparathyroidism, my kidney stone problem should be over now. It seems that many doctors do not know how to diagnose a parathyroid problem when the calcium or parathyroid hormone isn’t out of the normal range. If you are having recurring stones please do some research on this. Thankfully, I found a great endocrine surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic (US) to officially diagnose me and he was able to remove the diseased parathyroids so I can finally stop producing stones. I wish my urologist and endocrinologist would have done some research when this started years ago.

Combined oral and topical minoxidil with cancer treatment?

Has anyone combined oral and topical minoxidil to slow or prevent hair loss from cancer treatment? I’m currently on a targeted therapy for cancer (not a true chemo) and the side effect is temporary alopecia. My doc first suggested topical, which did seem to slow shedding, but didn’t stop it. We just decided to add in oral minoxidil, starting at 0.625 and I’m approved to go up to 5mg daily. My doc said I could keep using topical if I wanted, but wasn’t sure if it would make a difference. Has anyone else tried the combo? Also, I’m open to any other advice or suggestions!

Clinical Trial Booth Ideas for Society Mtg

Does anyone have recommendations for a booth vendor to help me set up something for a society meeting? Working for a small company with a new rare disease clinical trial in a competitive space, I’m focusing on increasing recruitment. I’d like to get a booth set up at a society meeting in a few months and want to do something simple for now (not much budget to work with). My previous company had a department to manage this sort of thing, I used to just show up and the booth was ready! Editing to add that for now our focus is North America

Piriformis surgery was successful

For those of you considering surgery to release the piriformis tendon and free up adhesions on the sciatic nerve, I wanted to share that I’m more than a year out and I’m pain free. I’ve also regained the strength in my affected leg. I’m thankful I found an orthopedic surgeon who was able to diagnose me through a steroid injection. I do think it is important to have both procedures, I’ve spoken with people who didn’t have the adhesions cleaned up along the nerve and they continued to have pain. I hope you all find a path to relief, don’t give up!

Natural Eyeshadow Rec

Help needed! I started cancer treatment and I’m wanting to change things up for my makeup routine as I lose my eyelashes and eyebrows. I plan to continue working and want to still look pulled together. I just started losing my lashes, so I’m just going to use some brown liner and minimal eyeshadow.

So I’m looking for a single eyeshadow for a natural color wash that works with these conditions:

- cool tone, light skin (blonde hair)
- mature, dry skin so maybe a satin finish (not too matte or too sparkly)
- good pigment to cover discoloration
- powder formula as I never end up using or liking sticks, creams or liquids

Not worried about cost or brands, I just don’t know how to look natural. Please share your thoughts! Thank you!!
