IRTG

I’ve done apps, quizzes, asked friends, etc. I thought I was FG, but friends have told me I don’t have vertical, so I started to dress for SG. Then, one app typed me SN and another SC. Wore a long denim skirt once and at first I thought it was cute, but when I saw pictures I looked like I was trying to fit into a tube, like toothpaste. I want to get out of my comfort zone and stop wearing baggy jeans and baggy hoodies…

Feeling out of the loop

using my alt account.

This came from playing a game of Quiplash. I’m 27F, playing with my siblings and my brothers GF (21F, 23M, 23F) and this is what triggered my thoughts, thoughts that I’ve had for awhile.

Essentially, what happened was that I was unfunny. I tried, didn’t try, had different approaches. Was not funny. Was baited into explaining a joke and got even more clowned for it.

And listen, I know it’s just a game. I know it’s a different dynamic playing with my siblings instead of with the homies. But the comments were targeting my age and being old. I was that kid too— i remember being that 20 year old that roasted my 25 year old friends on discord. But that’s the thing. It wasn’t really that they were making fun of my age, not really, but my dated humor. (I picked a gimme from the game in an earlier round. It was lame but it was either that or “chud looksmaxxing mewing.” I acknowledged that the gimme wasn’t funny but it was the better option imo, then when it came to round 3 for a different game later in the night, I called back to it. They thought i meant it, to be funny. Idk if that makes sense)

But ok, I don’t know why that bothered me so much. And I began to spiral a little bit. I used to be funny. Really. I also used to not work full time and go to school full time or pay bills. But that’s not an excuse right? I don’t like that they keep calling me a millennial. It doesn’t matter. It really doesn’t to me, but something about it bothers me so much. I think it just reminds me that i’m not 21 anymore. I’m not chronically online, I don’t play video games anymore, I don’t “get” things. And I think I really hate that. I really hate feeling out of touch, feeling uninteresting, feeling like a serious stick in the mud. Because I wasn’t at some point. I wasn’t always so… lame, I guess. I feel stupid for getting triggered by jackbox of all things, but really I think it’s pointing to a deeper issue of feeling out of touch. Which is a hard pill for me to swallow.

It makes me feel like my dad. My dad always had humor that was p out of pocket and not in a good way. The kind you kinda have to pity laugh at. I HATE THAT. I HATE THAT THATS ME. i don’t wanna be that guy. i hate feeling like i had to find excuses for not being funny!! like oh, my humor is more situational, oh my humor only happens when im just being dumb. i think the nonchalant, anti-cornball anti intellectual humor of today is just not compatible with who i am— idk, see i feel like i just did what i didnt want to do. it doesn’t help that im a teacher. i’m serious for a living. and on top of all that, im bigger than when i was younger, my clothes aren’t cool or cute (i used to be huge on fashion), and because im so busy, i don’t socialize as much as i used to. i lwk was the center of attention sometimes but i feel… invisible? call it egotistical, but i also think i just miss not caring, or having a lot of confidence.

i think i just hate aging. 27 is not old, i know. it’s just also not 21. none of this matters. but i’m bothered anyway.

tl;dr i sucked at quiplash and i feel old and unfunny and irrelevant

Been at this house in San Bruno for 2 years now, and looking for a housemate to fill the primary bedroom. Move-in date: August 1. Rent is $1,595/month or $968/month for two people, with utilities (~$130/month, split evenly). The upstairs tenant is moving out, and this is a shared living space, so we're looking for someone respectful, responsible, and who vibes with a chill yet communicative household to renew the lease with.

The room:
Spacious primary bedroom on 2nd floor (unfurnished)
* Private bathroom
* Good natural light
* Plenty of room for a queen/king setup and a desk
* Ideal for someone who works from home or needs privacy

The house:
* 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms
* Two floors, lots of shared space
* Fully furnished living room, dining room, and kitchen
* Second living room upstairs (flex space: could be office, lounge, etc.)
* Spacious kitchen with modern appliances
* In-unit laundry
* Private patio + backyard (needs work lol)

Housemates:
27F, 23M, 23F, 21F. We're a mix of working professionals and students. We're friendly, respectful of each other's space and schedules, and appreciate open communication. We like to host on occasion, but usually just have our partners or family over. Some of us work nights, WFH, or have a day job, so most of the time we just chill in our rooms or decompress in the living room. Previous upstairs tenants had been post-undergrad folks or college students. We're considering moving to rent elsewhere, but trying to see if we can stay at our current spot to avoid moving pains (and it's such a nice house)

What we're looking for:
* Someone who values and respects shared living spaces.
* Communicates clearly and is mindful of house dynamics
* Comfortable living with housemates who keep a generally quiet environment
* Can provide proof of stable income
* Able to comfortably afford $1595/month plus utilities (~$130/month). Co-signer ok.
* No smoking

Location:
* Quiet neighborhood in San Bruno
* Close to public transit + freeway access (having a car is probably most convenient)
* Near groceries, restaurants, and parks
* Less than 5-minute drive to Skyline College, 15-20 min drive to SF State and City College, 20 min drive to CSM

Move-in:
* $1595 month + utilities ~$130/mo (one person)
* Security deposit required (1 month's rent)
* 1-year lease preferred
* Move-in date is Aug 1, can talk if needed to move in a bit earlier

If you're interested, feel free to DM or comment for more details
