Just thinking that in this time without the fic, a guy met a woman, had sex with her, got her pregnant, the baby grew in her belly until it was born. Literally, a new life appeared in the world before we got any update on this fic.

We have three possibilities about what's happening:

1. The saddest one. The author doesn't care anymore, or worse, simply forgot about it.

2. The famous 'a lot is happening in my personal life and I haven't had time to work on the fic' and it'll come out this year.

3. There's a girl I follow on X who's a fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, better known for the Game of Thrones series. The other day she was celebrating that her favorite fic had been updated after 3 YEARS! And I think that's what's going to happen.

Not that I think it will only come out after 3 years, but I also don’t think we’ll see it anytime soon (ironically saying this since it’s literally been 9 months with nothing) I believe it will only come out in 2027 or early 2028.

And the case of Tick, Tick, as I mentioned in another post of mine, is worse than Of Bombs & Chainsaws. At least we know the author is alive, and that the delay is because he’s no longer interested in the work.

Meanwhile, Maelstrom_Guy just disappeared.

By the way, even though you admitted your mistake, Kishibe—that your plan was total crap—you still have to pay for your sins! But we'll let Dennis and Reze decide your fate, hehehehe!

The chapter focuses largely on the fight between Reze (brainwashed) and Pochita. It’s during this fight that we get a moment which, despite being simple, I consider one of the most beautiful in the fic: Pochita avoiding fighting Reze while trying to jog her memory. There’s the scene where he brings those flowers for her, and since we’re seeing it from her point of view, we witness her internal conflict regarding Pochita’s actions. I hate seeing Reze like this, but I admit that segment made me want to see more from the perspective of Brainwashed Reze.

It’s a really interesting idea to have Reze regain control not through Makima’s death, but by starting to remember her moments with Dennis. After all, the mind can’t erase what the heart has chosen to love—it’s just a shame Makima decides to play the ultimate buzzkill and ruin their moment.

The chapter ends with the hybrids teaming up to beat the crap out of Pochita. Except this time it’s even worse, since Poison is in the mix now, lol.

I think we can safely assume that if the fetus exists and is indeed going to die, it won’t be at Pochita’s hands—after all, we saw how careful he was with Reze here.

The next chapter should adapt Power’s brief return and farewell. I’m eager to see how that scene plays out. And since the GOAT said she’s really excited about this arc, it shouldn’t take too long to come out.

What was the worst opinion you've ever heard about Reze?

And I'm not just saying things like: 'she never loved Dennis' or 'she has already fulfilled her purpose.' I actually want a horrible take about her. It could be about an opinion on her personality, the movie, a trait, appearance, or even fics about her. Anything really.

In my case, the worst take I heard came from none other than my best fuckin friend!

Saturday, October 25, 2025, around 6 PM. I leave the Reze Arc session amazed. I tell my dear companions (my brother and best friend) that my humble rating for the film is the highest score.

Then, I notice my friend's surprise at my rating and ask what he thought of the masterpiece we witnessed.

I can't quite understand his point, since he's not great at expressing himself, but I clearly get it when he says the following sentence: 'The movie didn't have much of a soundtrack.'

I'm shocked by such nonsense being said.

If only the work we just consumed were indeed devoid of musical compositions, it would be a debatable but appropriate comment. But, dear readers, we know that is not the case here.

The sentence: 'The movie didn't have much of a soundtrack.' haunts me to this day.

Today no longer a friend of the tasteless praat, for it is not possible to have ties with the dead...

Just kidding! Just kidding!

My friend is alive just like our friendship.

But what he said is real. At the time I found that comment strange and didn’t pay much attention, but as the days went by and I revisited the soundtrack, I kept thinking: 'how does he say something like that'? lol

I think that, except for Reze herself, the movie's soundtrack was by far the most talked-about thing.

Even in posts not related to CSM, I hear In The Pool playing in the background.

And even about 7 or 8 months later, the songs keep getting a lot of views on YouTube. And not just In The Pool, tracks like: In The Sea, Typhoon Devil, Reze, and The City Mouse and The Country Mouse have already reached the 1 million views mark. By the way, Slow Summer Eve is getting close to that number too.

That is, In The Pool wasn’t the only standout track, the whole musical work was. And bro has the nerve to look at me and say: 'The movie didn't have much of a soundtrack'

Poor Denji.

Chapter 41 of Adopting Strays has dropped, and man—it might not be the saddest or most shocking chapter, but it is by far the most morbid, cold, distant, and lifeless one released so far.

This is a chapter about mourning. We see Denji grieving—not for someone's death, but for the death of a relationship, a union, a connection. We are torn apart by writing that takes care to describe every feeling our boy is going through: his pain, denial, hope, regret, and questioning.

It’s a chapter that reveals these other sides of Denji in such an intimate and raw way that I almost felt like he was a loved one of my own. And unlike previous chapters that frequently shifted between different points of view, here we follow only Denji from start to finish. This allows the story to develop the character's other relationships: the false sense of security and maternal comfort Makima uses to manipulate Denji; the protective role he takes on to comfort a traumatized Power; and the sense of brotherhood shared between him and Aki. What strikes me is that, even during these moments with other people, you can still feel Reze's presence. The author did an amazing job handling that lingering "curse."

Speaking of Aki, I really liked how his death was handled. I think keeping it brief was a smart move; if it had been overly descriptive or detailed, the fic might have become too heavy. I really appreciated the choice to focus only on the moment Denji realizes he has actually killed Aki. It was quick, effective, and painful. I almost don't want to see the state he'll be in next chapter (actually, yes, I do).

The other major point introduced here is the possibility that Reze is pregnant.

Denji's gonna be a dad lol

At least, that's what he thinks. Relax, Denis—freaking out because you think you got your girlfriend pregnant is a canon event in every man's life.

But I have to admit, it was kind of funny watching him get paranoid, imagining Reze as a struggling single mom. Damn, man, it's so cute how much he worries about her. For sure, that’s another stuff that wasn't included just for the sake of it. This pregnancy thing will come back.

I also like how this possibility was brought up a while back in the fic—when Himeno made a comment about it and Reze thought about having kids with him. I wonder if the fic will end with a Denreze family? That would be really interesting, since Nayuta always fills the "daughter" role in fics, fanart, and fancomics. So, it would be awesome if they had a biological child of their own.

I'm also really curious to see what Reze thinks about this. I hope it doesn't take too long to see her again.

Anyway, a really heavy chapter. It's amazing how this chapter managed to put me right in Denji's shoes. And I've never had a "great passion"—a great love of my life (I still will, though)—yet I still felt every single one of Dennis's emotions here. That's all thanks to the writing quality, which is simply >>>>>>

Can't wait for the next chapter (Power's death 😭😭😭😭😭 brace yourself, Dennis).

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the first chapter of Poison's fic is out. Since it's short—only four chapters—I'll comment on it here once it's finished. But I've already left kudos and a bookmark to show some support.

Since the Reze one wasn't exactly a huge hit, I think it'll be a while before we get another one.

But personally, I would like to see Yoru & Dennis. They can be toxic, but damn, they have chemistry and they're hot.

Yoru has the best female character design in Part 2, so I can't judge Dennis.

At the beginning of Part 2, Asa defeats transformed Yuko with just a single and simple hit.

It’s later explained that this happened because Asa’s sword, which was made from her uniform, was the last thing her mother gave her before she died. And it was exactly that affection for the uniform that made the sword so strong. It’s then established that for a weapon to be strong, you need to feel something for it. A really awesome concept that I don’t remember if it stays until the end or if it changes.

Since I read this chapter, I’ve always thought that any object/item I’m attached to I would transform. And for sure, it would be my XBOX ONE.

I got it for Christmas in 2017, and I still have it with me. I think I’d transform it into a hammer or a revolver? I also don’t remember if it’s possible to transform objects into firearms. Yoru always transformed them into melee weapons.

Anyway, I’d be sad to lose my XBOX, but considering how much I like it, it would be some dope weapon.

Just... just 10 chapters left to finish...

Even in her final route, AS keeps breaking our hearts. I knew it was going to be that kind of devastating chapter the moment I translated the title. And I knew exactly what was going to happen:

Reze 'would leave' Denji.

Actually, I knew this was going to happen since the previous chapter when Kishibe suggested it to Reze. I knew it wouldn’t have been brought up for nothing.

And then we have the scene where Reze leaves Denji.

And it wasn’t a moment that hit me that hard, but there’s a reason for that:

When a story frequently reuses some narrative element, the viewer ends up adapting and molding themselves to it.

For example: I read City of God, which from the very first pages depicts countless shocking scenes of violence. However, there’s a moment so heavy and extreme that the other scenes that come after, even though they’re still violent, lose their impact. This happens because you’ve already witnessed the maximum that that story could deliver.

Something similar happens to me when reading AS. Only instead of brutality, it’s emotional impact.

There’s already been so much anguish, tragedy, pain between Denji & Reze—the climax of all that with Reze killing Denji—that the other scenes that follow this same tone end up not affecting me as much.

BUT... this is far from meaning that the scene lacks weight or emotion. On the contrary, it's an extremely hard moment to read because it's filled with sadness from start to finish.

It's a torturous dialogue to follow. Denji insists and tries to convince his beloved to let him go with her. Reze, on the other hand, struggles and resists, not giving in to Denji's words. And the scene even ends by drawing a parallel to the canon, with Reze leaving while Denji can't do anything except beg her to stay.

Anyway, another extremely well-written chapter. I want to point out once again the author's immense talent in moving between the characters' POVs very naturally. The action scenes also deserve praise. Denji and Reze fighting Santa was one of the highlights of the chapter.

The only negative point in my view is that Kishibe is a damn incompetent. He suggests the idea of Reze running away and hiding somewhere in Tokyo, but doesn’t make sure she can get there safely without any problems? FUCK... of course Reze gets caught. At least Poison shows up in this scene.

Excited for the next chapter, mainly because the focus should be on Denji processing everything that happened. And I think the author really shines in this kind of scene, where the characters are torturing themselves with their own thoughts, doubts, and regrets.

She describes it in a way that makes the reader drown along with the characters. By far my favorite moments in the fic are when the character battles their own conscience.

The only sad thing is that we probably won’t see Reze for a while, I think.

My score for this chapter is: 9/10

Everyone already knows that Denji was pretty smart jumping into the sea chained up with Reze.

But what if I told you it wasn't the water that defeated her? Actually, being submerged would have made her even stronger.

The reason: an underwater explosion can be more lethal than one that happens in the air.

Continuing: We also saw in the movie that she was still capable of exploding in the water. So it would only take a few more BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! And not only would Reze free herself from the chains, but she would also complete her mission right there in the sea.

So... why didn't she do it?

For that, you just need to take a quick look at the character and her relationship with Dennis.

The battle between them isn't just Reze trying to take Denji's heart. It's also Reze violently taking out her frustration on him for having been rejected.

She is furious and hurt.

If a rejection already causes these feelings in a normal situation, imagine for Reze, who was experiencing it all for the first time.

She is blinded by hatred throughout the fight, but that changes when they sink together into the sea. In the depths, Reze's anger calms down and her memories with Denji start to weigh on her. It's like when a fit of rage passes and you can think more clearly.

She realizes that either she kills Denji and goes back to her life as an assassin, or she lets herself be defeated, leaving her future in the hands of the PS.

She makes the second choice. Reze's life as an assassin would only end when she faced an opponent capable of beating her. So being 'killed' by the boy who made her feel human, by the person she shared the best moments of her life with, and having her last moments close to him—it didn’t seem so bad.

What Reze didn’t expect was that Denji would surprise her again. Not just by bringing her back to life but by letting her go.

She could have killed him on the beach. But she had been defeated the moment he regurgitated that flower.

Anyway, I wonder what would have happened if Reze had been handed over to the PS right after her arc.

Would Denji have asked to see her, or maybe Reze would have tried to make peace with him?

Could they have ended up together?

We can only imagine.

I know it was super PEAK seeing Kensuke Ushio cooking really hard in every scene of the Reze Arc.

But I think the perfect tone for this scene would be if it were raw, just the ambient sound.

I think Aki’s death is the best scene in the ENTIRE manga. I think it’s perfect in every way. So I’m extremely hyped for this moment. Even more hyped than the scene in hell.

And it would be even better if this was the last scene of the last episode. It would be so PEAK if the season ended like that.

Anyway, at least that’s how I would do it.
