Club Brugge currently holds the crown!
Based on this post: De Eredivisie kroon gaat dit jaar naar AZ. in r/Eredivisie, I wondered how it was/is in the JPL this year. In short: The champion starts with the crown. This is an imaginary traveling trophy. With each loss, it goes to the winner. (In this post, league matches only (but do correct me :D )).
Union is the previous national champion.
October 5, 2025 - Club Brugge:
It takes until matchday 10 before they lose it to Club Brugge (1-0)
November 9, 2025 - Anderlecht:
A month later, Anderlecht snatches it in the top match! (1-0)
December 7, 2025 - Westerlo:
The crown puts us on cloud nine. (Thanks to?) we even beat Union at home, but at Westerlo we have to accept not only humiliation, but also leave the crown behind. (4-0)
December 27, 2025 - KAA Gent:
Just before the winter break, Westerlo has to leave the crown in Gent. (2-0)
February 7, 2026 - OH Leuven:
Gent manages to keep the crown for more than a month, but OH Leuven takes it with them. (1-3)
February 21, 2026 - Club Brugge:
Club is not only the better team. They also reclaim the crown. (2-1)
April 19, 2026 - Union:
Club finishes the season with the crown. Union seems to not only deliver a blow in the title race in the play-offs, but takes the crown at home. (2-1)
May 2, 2026 - STVV:
Not only the first play-off loss in 2 years, but also losing that crown again! (2-1)
May 9, 2026 - Club Brugge:
But Club Brugge simply reclaim the crown at home. (2-0)
