Navball symbols + a question about what they're all for

I haven't been playing the game for a long time and am actually still on my first xbox career playthrough (can't have mods 😭) - I'm having A Lot of difficulty navigating with the maneuver nodes and also just general space travel. I've got the orbits and delta v and TWR and the engine ISPs pretty well down but I keep on getting wayy confused with what each symbol relates to.

I know the prograde and retrograde are in reference to the direction you're traveling, but I don't see a lot of consistency in my radial in and radial out nodes.

It may just be a camera angle error and I'm looking at the system wrong, but it's hard to stay in reference to what you're looking at! Does it matter if I'm looking at it upside down? Will the nodes have different meanings to the way I'll move in space depending on my camera orientation? I know it doesn't matter for prograde and retrograde but that's not a lot to work with

It sometimes seems like when I am that the radial in node affects my orbital tilt clockwise - but sometimes that isn't the case and I don't fully understand why. (Maybe I'm looking at it in an incorrect reference point or smthn?)

I also have no idea what orbital in and orbital out are for, I know that they're referencing if I'm pointing to or away from the thing I'm orbiting but like what the fuck is the point of that and how does that actually affect your flight path?

Sorry if these are super basic questions (or just things that would be solved with some basic mods), I'd appreciate the help regardless
