My partner and I own a townhouse in a Strata in BC. Managed by CML properties if it’s relevant.

We have designated parking spaces in the lot.

A few times a year the strata makes everyone move their vehicles for stuff happening in the parking lot (line painting, snow removal etc)

We are currently on a 2 week international vacation and got a text from our neighbours that we were both being towed for line painting.

(Due to 16 hour time difference we received these texts in the middle of the night and did not receive until hours after)

Here’s the kicker. Prior to us leaving we emailed our strata manager, basically saying.

“We are out of the country for this time period, is there anything going on in the parking lot during this time, as we won’t be there to move our vehicles”

The manager responded via email and said “nope the street sweeping is happening on (date before we left)”

We had a friend pick up our 2 vehicles from the toy yard ($400 each) and are wondering if there is any recourse or advice in order to be compensated by our strata?

We emailed the strata manager directly to inquire about compensation but she has ghosted us.

There was no strata wide email to inform residents of the painting, (they have emailed in the past) only method of informing residents was a print off piece of paper in mailbox.
