The Eras of Toontown Rewritten

For the long-time TTR players out there, would you divide the different eras of Toontown Rewritten?

Here's how I personally see them:

2013–2014: The Classic Era

This was the very early period when the game was still pretty barebones and buggy. Crashes were common, lots of features were still missing, and for much of this period you couldn't even play without an Alpha or Beta key. Despite that, there was something really special about this era because everyone was just excited that Toontown was back.

2014–2017: The Prime Era

To me, this was peak TTR. The player counts were huge, and the community still felt a lot like the original Toontown Online. Districts would constantly fill up, boss lobbies were packed, Vibrant Valley was always crowded, and and people hosted all kinds of game shows and social events just like they did in the original game. This was before deer and crocodiles existed, and it's also when events like Storm Sellbot happened. The game was still a little buggy, but the overall atmosphere still felt very much like classic Toontown.

2017–2019: The Pre-Modern Era

This is when the player count noticeably started dropping. By this point, deer, crocodiles, and Doodles had all been added, and the game had become much more stable technically. Updates slowed down compared to earlier years, but we still received some memorable additions like the Options update, the Silly Meter update, and Crash Cashbot. Around this time, the community also started feeling different from the original Toontown Online days as both the game and its players matured.

2020–2021: The Lockdown Hype Era

During lockdown, the game suddenly exploded in popularity again for a while. Seeing packed districts and crowds everywhere felt incredible and honestly nostalgic, and the game had more attention than it had seen in years. Updates were pretty slow during this period, which was understandable since the team was hard at work developing Field Offices. We still received some great quality-of-life improvements, like the racing and golfing trophy changes.

2021–2024: The Update Renaissance Era

This was when TTR really started evolving again. We got major updates like Field Offices, ToonHQ integration, and plenty of other additions and improvements. Even though the player base had shrunk again compared to the lockdown boom, the game itself was getting more ambitious than ever. By this point, the community also felt much more mature overall compared to the older days.

2024–2026: The Reimagining Era

I think this is the era where TTR truly began shifting away from simply preserving the original game and started becoming its own interpretation of Toontown. Things like gag balance changes, facility overhauls, and other redesigns were major changes to the core gameplay experience. Whether you prefer the old direction or the new one, it definitely feels like a new chapter for the game.

That's how I'd divide the eras, anyway. What do you all think? Would you split them up differently, or do you mostly agree with this timeline?
