Module 1
Main Questions to Study:
Impact of IOT in any of the three domains (Connected Roadways, Connected Factories, Smart Creatures, Smart Connected Buildings)
Differentiate between IT and OT
Standardized IOT Architecture
Notes: First question in the above has came in all papers.
Module 2
Main Topics to Study:
- Smart Objects
Describe any three communication criteria which are to be considered when selecting and dealing with connecting smart objects. (9)
Define the characteristics and attributes considered when selecting and dealing with connecting smart objects. (14)
Define Smart Objects. Describe the characteristics of a smart object. (5)
- IEEE 802.15.4
Explain the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for wireless communication. (8)
Differentiate between the IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.11ah standards. (7)
Notes: Also, learn about basic stuff like Sensors and Actuators
Module 3

Explain tunnelling legacy SCADA over IP networks. (8)
Detail on supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). (6)
- 6TiSCH
Describe about the schedule management mechanism and packet forwarding models in 6TiSCH. (8)
- MQTT
Explain MQTT Publish/Subscribe Framework and MQTT Message Format. (7)
Write a detailed description on Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT). (10)
Notes: The question under 6TiSCH has come in 3 out of 4 papers so that’s a must study.
Module 4
Main Topics to Study:
- OT Security
Illustrate common challenges in OT Security. (14)
- Purdue model
Describe the logical framework based on the Purdue model for control hierarchy and OT network characteristics. (8)
Explain the "The Purdue Model for Control Hierarchy" and OT network characteristics. (8)
- Flexible NetFlow architecture
Explain the Flexible NetFlow architecture. (8)
Module 5
Main Topics to Study:
- AWS
Describe how AWS support IoT development. (7)
Write in detail about Amazon EC2 and Amazon AutoScaling (6)
Explain about Amazon RDS and Amazon DynamoDB. (6)
- WAMP
Explain the working of WAMP protocol. (8)
- Django Architecture
Explain the Django Architecture. (8)
Notes: Both WAMP and Django has appeared 3 times across 4 papers each either. Also, you could either learn AWS or Raspberry PI. I felt AWS was easier which is why I kept it above.
Will be posting PYQs soon.
