The Artemis moon mission got me dying to jump back into the first game. Nothing captures the mystery and wonder of Space Exploration like the first Mass Effect. It still sparks imagination all these years later. Hope future installments in the series can bring it back to this believable, lonely, and ominous depiction of the future. The legendary edition visual updates are just enough to remove the haze of the early HD days. So good to be back.

Such a great game and a showcase in world-building even today. Killer soundtrack, I just leave the Galaxy map OPEN. Hot take…I like the Mako. The lonely barren worlds are how most of space simply is (even in a future where we colonize space). In that sense this game feels like an oddly believable future and while 2 and 3 are great, they don’t pull as much on that enticing thread - the foreboding, lonely, yet beautiful emptiness of space exploration.

Think I’m finally gonna play Knights of the Old Republic next.
