Discipline and safety in WCPSS
My child goes to Reedy Creek Middle. On a weekly basis, we hear insane stories about what is going on in class, during lunch, and on the bus. Fights with so much blood that a corridor has to be closed. Fire in the cafeteria set by the students. Students assaulting other students in detention and on the bus. The list goes on. Nobody ever does anything about any of this. My child was assaulted twice already, in less than a year.
The teachers don't seem much better, either, which explains so much. Openly racist science teacher, openly misogynist math teacher; making derogatory remarks about students in front of the whole class. Again, the list goes on.
The principal and assistant principals seem to be content to pretend that none of this is happening. They never respond to an email, even, forget about actually kicking aggressive students out of the school. Perhaps we should be calling the police?
It is not safe and not normal. We are new to the school system, so it has been quite a shock. Is this normal for WCPSS? Or did we manage to pick the most ghetto school?
