Shooting basketball with the r6 mark ii
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some practical tips for shooting indoor basketball with a Canon mirrorless setup.
I’m using a Canon R6 Mark II with the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 on the EF-RF adapter. I also have an EF 24-70mm f/2.8 and an EF 85mm f/1.4.
My main goal is to get sharp, crisp action shots with a better keeper rate, especially in indoor gym lighting.
I’d love advice on:
- Best lens choice for basketball: 70-200, 24-70, or 85mm?
- Best autofocus settings on the R6 Mark II for fast action.
- Recommended shutter speed, aperture, and ISO for sharp indoor shots.
- Should I use Auto ISO, or is manual ISO better for indoor sports?
- Mechanical shutter vs electronic shutter for indoor basketball.
- Whether anti-flicker should be enabled.
- Should I avoid using flash during live games? I have a Godox V1-C, but I don’t want to distract players or cause any issues.
Any real-world tips on positioning, timing, and getting sharper/crisper basketball photos would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
