My LOs preschool has at least one event a month that’s on a Wednesday, for us to attend with the kids. It’s usually anywhere between 9am-12pm depending on the event, and she only goes half a day. Overall I just don’t find these events all that enjoyable, and there is too many of them and very distributive to workday.

For example for Mother’s Day they have a Tea event at 11am. She goes at 8:30. I go to work at 9 and she finishes at 12:30. So I will have to drop her off then go to work then I have to wrap up work and try to leave by 10:45 to get there at 11am then have to just take her home after. So I’m rly only at work for an hour and half in the morning and will have to either start earlier or stay later to make up all that time and rush through lunch. It’s just so distributive to my day and just doesn’t seem all that worth it. It’s one thing if they did only 2-3 of these per semester but they have something every month.

I wish they would do these things at the beginning of the day like 8:30 or 9am or close to pick up like 12. They just really don’t think about our day as working parents.

Am I a horrible parent? I find these events and my day with them more hectic than fun. I rather not have a Mother’s Day event honestly but I can’t not go and have my kid be alone and feel left out.

She will not be at this school next year so no point in telling them but seems like many preschools do this anyway. Hope public school doesn’t have this nonsense .
