Scammy Company
If you see this, please, please, I beg you to save yourself some grief and choose any other provider if one is available to you… Chose Optimum as soon as it was available in our area for the 1gig fiber internet that’s now going for $45-55 a month (for new customers only apparently). I’ve been paying $155 a month… Requested a WiFi extender and got a Bluetooth Amplify Speaker for an additional $10. I logged in and requested a cancellation on the Amplify Speaker. The agent (claimed to be human) said my bill would be $165 a month. After arguing for a while and saying that didn’t make sense and clarifying I didn’t any other service they still tried to sell additional crap… they said well you had credits that expire now. Like what? So if I didn’t say anything my bill would have stayed the same instead it’s going to be more expensive after canceling a service. Finally got it ironed out and they said I had 7 days to return to the nearest store, they would not send someone to pick it up or let me mail it back. Closest location is 40 minutes away. I drive my happy butt to do the store, walk in and tell them I’m dropping off equipment. The associate takes the speaker to the manager and comes back and says he can’t take it and to call support. I’m like and why not? it’s YOUR equipment and I was told by YOUR support to bring it. I even called ahead to make sure that’s what o was supposed to do. Guess what, it goes to a support line, they do not offer a direct line to the store… he attempts to give me another address of a tech store to take it. I’m already pissed off so I ask to speak to the manager. She comes over and has him pull up my account. “Oh there it is yeah, we can take it” they give me a receipt for the speaker. Meanwhile the associate openly tells me that business is known for being scammy, and having bs charges. He got rid of a 6,99 “network enhancement fee” for me that he says is bs. He saw how much I was paying and was shocked. Said it’s currently only 55 dollars a month for 1g fiber internet. He tried and tried to upgrade it for me where he said I should only paying close to that with fees and taxes but he couldn’t do it. The system literally locked him out. Between 3 employees and a manger they could not change my account. He said I’d have to call support to remove the “restriction” from my account. The first customer support/retention specialist said he could only offer me a $30 discount for a year and that the $55 was only for NEW customers. Told him I still did not find that acceptable and he offered $65 off my bill a month for 5 years. WTF… that’s still twice what a new customer would be paying it’s only temporary… told him I didn’t want to be negotiating and I didn’t like the temporary accommodation for this lousy rip off, and he tried to tell me 5 years isn’t temporary and tried to gaslight me and says it’s best offer any provider could offer. BS! It’s twice as much as any other provider and twice as much as THEIR OWN ADVERTISEMENT. I’ve been paying THREE TIMES what I should… he said that’s all I could get from him. Found a corporate expedited phone number from Reddit and the guy said the same thing. So this is how this company treats you and rewards you for being a tenured customer, you pay more than anyone else. I’m saving this and posting elsewhere if they delete these. Openly scammy. I’m disgusted with this company.
