What should international students know about accommodation, food and student life at Newcastle University?

Hi everyone,

my_qualifications - BCA

I recently received an unconditional offer from for MSc Advanced Data Science with Statistics, and I’ll most probably be joining this September intake.

Honestly, I’m a bit confused and nervous because I have no idea about accommodation, food, daily expenses, part-time jobs, and student life in Newcastle. I’m coming from India, and this will be my first time living abroad.

I would really appreciate suggestions from current students or anyone living in Newcastle regarding:

- Best student accommodations

- Private vs university accommodation

- Monthly living cost

- Indian food / cooking situation

- Grocery expenses

- Part-time job availability

- Which areas are safe and affordable for students

Also, if any Indian students from Newcastle are here, please share your experience and things you wish you knew before moving.

Thank you :)
