AITAH for a document mistake when trying to adopt my lost cat?
Long story short I tracked down my lost cat who was given by my animal shelter to a rescue due to injuries he received while out. He’s had his surgeries and was ready to adopt and I found him on pet finder under a new name. The rescue is trying to reject my adoption of my own cat because I hadn’t sent health records on my animals which I didn’t realize I had until double checking with my partner who promptly gave me the health records and I sent them in. Simple mistake right? This isn’t your typical adoption obviously. The rescue owner and I spent a lot of time emailing to make sure this was the same cat. Now she’s being short handed out of nowhere after announcing yesterday that I wasn’t approved due to not sending my documents (she never emailed me about this - I waited 2 weeks to hear back and nothing until I decided it was a ridiculous wait and emailed back myself) and doesn’t seem to want to communicate further about the adoption despite being sent the documents of health. I’ve communicated with the foster about sending my documents and asked to visit my cat since all parties involved have stated they are positive it’s my cat and the foster owner said she got him from my local shelter (she isn’t from the same town) the local shelter posted our street to be the street he was found on and he has the same injury my cat received when I found a photo of him injured on my neighbors facebook. There’s zero reason to think this isn’t my cat and this lady is bogarting him for some reason.
In an email the rescue owner even said “I’m close to very sure this is your cat with the dates, injuries and pictures.” I’m sure lawyers will have a field day with this I guess I’ll shop the issue around if I need to?
AITA?
