I don't know if this is the place for this, but
Last year I had to talk with Cox Tier 2 customer support for around 4 months due to how just downright terrible their internet is. I work from home, I do school from home, and cox internet just is not the most reliable network it claims to be.
Starting in March last year, our internet would go down at around 7am every day, and it would be a game of "does it come back around the time they plan it to? or will it come back later? or heck will it even come back at all today?" I nearly lost my job due to this game of chance with Cox. Every. Single. Day. For four months. Sometimes it'd be gone for an hour or two, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes the whole day into the next. Additionally, with all these drops in service, we were paying for 1000/mb while getting (not kidding) 5kb. It was nearly impossible to do my work.
So we called Cox like anyone would, and of course we got people in India reading off of a script that want us to upgrade our equipment (our equipment was brand new at the time of the call), want to send a technician out to us (they charged us $100, technician never came) and problems continued to persist!
All of this context to say, guess what's happening again this year! Starting on Sunday, our internet went out around 6am and didn't return until 8pm that night. Monday, out at 11am and gone until 6:45pm. And wouldn't you know it, it's out again! 11am it went out, and it's predicting it to be out until 5:45pm.
But that's another part of this whole schtick with cox; the expected times are never accurate. In most cases, the internet would go out at 11 and say it'll be fixed by 12... then 3... then 9... you get what I'm trying to say. I personally don't think there's anyone actually working on them especially if the internet is going out in the whole neighborhood is experiencing it day after day. I even called cox today and you would never guess what the call was! My equipment is outdated, we need a technician to come out, the reason our neighborhood is losing internet so often is because our home is the problem! I called the guy out on his script and he screamed at me that he was trying to help me, of which he was not doing.
So I want to ask, do I have a strong legal case against Cox Communications? Cox has a monopoly on our town. It is a small town that doesn't have fiber internet, we don't even have spectrum out here. I am hoping to provide a legal case to either get Cox's shit together, or maybe this will encourage our town to bring in new internet.
- Not getting what we pay for (Pay for 1000mb, getting 5kb)
- Scammed by customer support ($100 technician charge, not showing up as well as telling us to pay for newer equipment and wanting to charge $250 more on top of $100 no show fee)
- Not getting what we pay for x2 (Internet out literally every single day)
I still have all the emails from last year, and I have some from this year as well. I don't want to lose my job. I don't want to fail out of school. I just want the internet to work so neither of these things happen. Additionally, for every hour of the internet being down, that's money I am losing. Cox internet is causing me to lose money.
