I bought this sword recently and was wondering if it was real or not, looks like a French infantry 1767 “Sabre Briquet”, with a slightly modified hand guard for the navy infantry, could anyone confirm?
There’s an engraving (a bit worn out - 3rd picture) on the lower part of the blade that looks like this particular era blacksmith signature.
