How could I improve satellite node in storage room?

I just bought Xiaomi mesh wifi and the node in the storage room has slightly poorer quality and seems like only one or two devices connected to it sometimes. Both nodes in the living room (AP) and storage room are connected to the gateway parent node.

But can I let the satellite one connect to AP? Since it's slightly closer to it than the gateway. Or what should I do with it?
