Heart Races - Taxol and Carboplatin

Hi all, I just had round 4 with taxol and carboplatin. My heart races terribly for the first few days (this round it's still happening a week later). It's uncomfortable to go upstairs or walk up any small hills. Also if I strain in the bathroom (TMI). Has anyone had this? My care team is aware and don't seem overly concerned. They think it might be steroid or anxiety-related, bumping up the heart rate. Even knowing one other person is dealing with this, or has dealt with it, would help me feel less alone! Thank you...

Experience w/ Parp Inhibitors for Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD)?

Hi everyone,

I had my 4th round of chemo yesterday and a meeting with my oncologist. She said that one of my tests came back positive for HRD and that she can put me on a parp inhibitor (she said this was good news, but it's not sinking in like good news to me for some reason... probably because this is all so overwhelming). She said I would be on it for two years with regular testing. Does anyone have experience with this? What are the side effects and how are you doing? Would love to know... Thank you.

Venlafaxine to Prevent Neuropathy and Hot Flashes

Does anyone have experience with Venlafaxine to help with neuropathy and hot flashes (and also anxiety)? My chemo is 6 rounds of:

  • CARBOplatin Commonly known as: Paraplatin
  • PACLitaxeL Commonly known as: Taxol

And I have had two out of 6 rounds and am experiencing some neuropathy and major hot flashes.

Thank you!

First Chemo out of Six

I had my 1st out of 6 treatments Thursday.

Considering I thought I was going to die from anxiety and the IV in my port, it went really well. This morning I have a little headache and some tingling in my right hand, even though I iced. I am going to up my ice game next time. It's so hard to prepare when you don't know what to expect.

I am feeling well enough to go to work today, but am really nervous about days 3-6. Any experiences and tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!

I do plan on walking and doing some form of exercise daily....

PS. 6 weeks p/o - port placed last week - stage 3a
